What size wheels are you running? The BFG Rivals are THE hot street tire right now. The Falken 615ks are great too.

I see more rivals on cars these days than anything else running street class.

Makes the $700 I spent of Geforce comp 2's look like I showed up with mini-van all-tourers.

Isn't SCCA going to a minimum of a 200 treadwear for the 2015 season? If you're going to run SCCA events, I would wait until the rules changes are in place, then look at tires.

What size tires are you looking for? Check out the Autocrossing and Road Racing section; you will find lots of good information there on tire brands and types.

For Corvettes I would stay away from the Rivals. They work no doubt, but I've driven a few cars with them on and I don't like them. The Hankook RS3's will my choice for next season. After two seasons on the Dunlap ZII's I like them but on a heavy car they need sparyed down after 2 or 3 runs on hot days. They don't like a LOT of heat. The RS3's do. The Rivals take heat well but its hard to get any in them when its cool out and especally on a light car like say a S2000. Drove a Subaru Legecy GT with them on it, they are ok on that car.

If you want competitive street rubber its RS3's, ZII's or Rivals. That is all anybody is running for the 200 tread wear requirements. Anything else and your getting left behind.
Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals are this week, look at the results and you'll see the tire brand listed for every car.

Lane Borg who is running a C5 in B Street on Hankook RS3's is the favorite to win that class. God any knows with A Street and Super Street what will happen.

BFG pays contingency...keep that in mind when you see how many people run Rivals...

I started to look for street tires in that size and it looks like there's not a lot to choose from. I have Nitto NT05's for track days as well as street use, but I really don't like them in the wet. They need some heat in them to work so they may not be a good choice for autocross even though they have the soon-to-be SCCA mandated 200 treadwear rating. Right now, I'm running A6's in the association I'm in.

The Hankook RS-3 is not available in a 275/40-17 nor is the BFG Rival. Doesn't look like the Dunlop ZII's are available in that size either.

The Falken Azenis RT615K is available in a 275/40-17 and has a 200 tread wear value. The Kumho XS is availabe in that size but has a 180 treadwear rating.

There isn't any.

Biggest the Rivals, RS3's, or ZII's go is 255/40/17.

You have to go to 18" wheels to get the width back. Hence, the +/- 1 rule for SCCA Street classes.

The Falken Azenis RT615K and the Nitto NT05's are NOT competitive rubber. Your better off with the 255's than run on those.

The Kumho XS makes a great track day tire but is **** poor for auto-x takes to long to get any heat in them for auto-x use. VERY nasty in the wet/cool/damp conditions.

It really comes down to how fast you want to go? If I just wanted to putz around, anything works, if I want to be somewhat competitive then run the 255's in any of the BIG 3 that are available. I've done this for 2 years and I've been fine locally. Still not enough tire but you can have fun and go kinda fast (A LOT depends on how good a driver you are). Here some results, http://stcsolo.com/content/results/2...lts-Event6.pdf 255's work but keep in the mind the two S2000's I was chasing have 500lbs less weight and one of them wears 245's at all fours. That and they both out drove me. I was 23rd, they where 12th and 13th. Not a big raw time difference however, about .4.

If you want to build the car to the SCCA rule book then 18" wheels with 275/35/18 or similar or nothing.
