ZR1 Wheels on 1993 Convertible
I am looking at the chrome wheels from 1st Rate Corvette Parts and was thinking of getting the staggered set of 17 x 9.5 & 17 x 11 wheels. My car has the stock size P255/45ZR-17 and P285/40ZR-17 tires. Nitto's website shows that these stock size tires will fit the wheels, but I was wondering if anyone is running this set up and how they look. My tires are only 14 months old so I'm not really wanting to replace them with the ZR1 sizes P275/40ZR-17 & P315/35ZR-17 until I need to. Any feedback or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Your tires will not look right on the wider wheels..the 285's would work as fronts but you need the 315's on the 11" rears.

Make sure the offset on the 11" wheels you are considering are 50mm and not the original 36mm offset that the "real" ZR-1 wheels have. OEM ZR-1 wheels will stick out slightly past the wheel wells. The AR-1 body was a full 2" wider at the rear so the OEM wheels stayed inside the wheelwell.
And the 11" wheel really works best with a 315/35-17 tire. Some tire shops may not install the 285/40 tire if it looks like the tire sidewall will have too much of an angle. Even the 255/45 tire will be a stretch on the 9-1/2" wide wheel.
Also consider going with a 17x9.5" wheel on all 4 corners. That way, when your existing tires wear out, you can get a set of 275/40-17 tires. Then you can rotate the tires for longer tread life. This tire/wheel combo was part of the Z07 suspension package so there will be no fitment problems.

I have Z06 wheels on my '93 ruby. 9.5x17 56mm offset Detroit wheels all the way around with firestone firehawks. I would like zr1's by Detroit wheel 841-796's either the polished which are cheaper or the chrome. Tires can be rotated with that type of setup. Also more brands of tires available.

I really appreciate everyone' input and advice. I've decided to go with the 17x9.5 and 17x11 wheels and go ahead and get new P275/40ZR-17 and P315/35ZR-17 tires for the proper fit. Has anyone running the rear 315/35's experienced any kind of rub or bottoming out? Keith at 1st Rate said they would extend out a little past the fender but I really like the aggressive stance these tires / wheels have! Thanks again for your help!

With the right offset on the rears they will look great, you don't want the 36mm offset of the ZR-1. You want the 50mm offset used on the GS. The fronts are all the same.

As long as the offset is right there will be no rubbing issues. You bought what I have been running for 7 years with no issue on the back. The fronts will rub just a bit in lock and depressed into a bump or something. I can see where I have scrubbed a bit on the wheel well but its never been a problem as far as damage.
Good luck and post up a pic when you get em mounted! We like pics!!
