Default 89 Wheel Size

I have seen a lot of great pics of wheels, however many of them don't list the wheel size. I want to upgrade my wheels and I'm wondering what the best size is? I'd like to fill up a little more of the space in the wheel wells. I don't want to lower the car, so what advice can I get on wheel size and their effects? I was thinking 18 rear and 17 front, however the different size wheels wouldn't allow for tire rotation. I also thought 18 all around, not sure if that would fit properly. What are some thoughts on this?

You can go to 18 inch rims no problem, instead of 275 40 17 tires on 17x9.5 rims. You can have 275 35 18 tires with no change in tire height.

Have seen quite a few C4 corvettes with 18x9.5 rims for better tire choice.

Hopefully someone will chime in with their experience.

My suggestion would be either all 4 17s or 18s.

While you can stuff a little wider inside the wheel wells you can't go wrong with 9.5 wide wheels and 275 tires.

It would depend on the width of the 18" wheel you want to use. Do you have a particular wheel in mind? Your 9 1/2" wheels "NOW" are 56mm offset.

A 9.0" wheel @ 50mm makes a very good fit on a C4 and there are many. Cray does some very nice wheels.

The Z52 has absolutely no special requirements.

My 89 has the 17 x 9.5 all the way around. I presume they are 56 MM offset as well. I was thinking a C5 ZR1 style wheel or a C6 Z06 style. I have been looking at the wheels on Corvette Mods.

I don't know if this will help, but I was able to bolt on a set of early 2000's Camaro SS wheels with no problems whatsoever. I am pretty sure they are a direct stock replacement size, but the sawblades were looking pretty beat. I just mounted the stock tires on those rims. I still have not figured how to post pictures, so if you want to see them there is a picture in my garage.
