C4 Headlights Wow
Being a member of NCRS I have heard remarks like " Nobody cares or looks at a C4, Nobody". I realize a C4 does not compare to some of the orginal C1, C2 and early C3s cars as far as looks and excitment. They are true classics which only those who pleanty of cash can afford. But never since the C2 has any Corvettes headlights got such a applause as when the C4s are operating. The other night after driving at dusk and the sun went down a bunch of young boys on bikes saw my headlights in operation. I think their eys became as big as a silver dollar when the C4s lights did its light show. I realize many cars have had dissapearing headlighs in the past but pop up lights never did put on a show like the C2 and C4 Corvettes. When the C6 came out with the Viper style headlamps I admit I felt it was a step backwards. To bad the C7 didnt go back in time like the C2 and C4. I always felt the hidaway headlights were part of the Corvette mystic.I still believe its one of the features that makes the C4 such a special Corvette.

Maybe it is just the dark red '95's, but mine gets a lot of kudo's too.
I agree with the OP about the C4 headlights too. I have had several people comment when they see them open or close.

I went into Canadian Tire the other day to buy a few things for the vette and when I approached the counter and there was a kid working there of highschool age. i told him the make and model and year and he says 'whhhooooooaaaaa man, those are the coolest vettes does it have the flip up lights and bright colored speedo'?
i said yup.
'wow man those are like classic vintage vettes now it must have cost a lot of money for that'.
i said yup. even though it was 4k.
i think the kids love these cars.

Kids love the C4. I work with kids on a daily basis, and get constant praise of the old girl.
It certainly does not lack of people taking pictures of it at car shows and cruises either.
People that allegedly are car guys who say the C4 isn't loved by Anyone, are suffering a case of ***** envy. They spent $$$$$ on their vettes, and we didn't so to them it's not 'a real vette'. For them it's a status symbol and nothing more.
Car Guys, and Car Girls, real ones love the C4 like any other performance car.

It's a shame some owners forget to clean the pop up headlights when cleaning their baby... The lights need tender loving care also. I struggled to bring mine back to life when I bought mine.. good to go now.

PS374, you're right - the pop-up headlights on C4s are awesome. I still enjoy watching them open up, and -yes- I too felt the headlights on the C6 (and C7) were a step backwards.

I'm always reminded of the Chevron Cars when the lights are up

My NCRS chapter treats the C4 contingent with just as much respect as the rest- they truly appreciate the greatness of this generation, even if it will be a while before the hobby at large comes to that understanding. That's quite ok with me.

the cool is rubbing off the c5's I think, and soon with the c6's also. I am debating a lot of upgrading my 96, but I think I will just upgrade the drivetrain because the looks of my car is a lot better than later generations

You know it's funny the things that come to mind. Ever since I bought mine, every time I see a C4 with the lights on it reminds me of a Bug Eyed Sprite. A friend had one when I was growing up, one always reminds me of the other.
Just a strange comment/thought.

I just got my first Vette last week (Black Rose '92 LT1), so I'm brand new to the Vette world. But I've already been approached and asked about the car by 4 strangers.

I'd prefer it if C4 lights were either round, or twin round lights like a C3.

I also recently purchased a 1992 Black Rose Coupe, from a member of this forum. And this is my first post on the forums. I'm having a blast with "Roxy"!

I think what turns a lot of people off is the factory ride height and not enough tire sticking out. As far as I'm concerned there's nothing hotter looking than a C4 with a tough looking stance, it makes the car.
