When I step out every morning to go to work I have the option of a C3, C4 or C5 to hop in and for some reason four out of five days I fire up the '86. It's ratty, squeeky, beat up and has a salvage title but I guess it's my favorite driver. I doubt I could get over $3500 in trade for it so I'll drive it until the rest of it falls apart. I'd take a 911 for sure but it would sit beside the C5 Vette every day while I drove the old C4 everywhere.

Wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I blew house money on car that expensive. The one lambo I sort of want is the LM002 truck.

and also, if your budget is that big, you don't have to trade away a C4 to be able to afford it.

Thats the way to go if building a Cobra Kit is in the works.
A Coyote family engine will give plenty of power, better MPG, and reliability.

I always love to looks for options

Option #1Coyote Rousch

Option #2 Aluminators & Coyotes

You can also go 351 old school, and add a fuel injected TB or carburetor, but if you go on a road trip with a carburetor ensure you know how to calibrate the AFR with tools.

I've lusted after Lambo's since I was a kid. First the Countach, then the Diablo, then the Murci, and so on.

I have driven a Lambo on a track and it was an awesome machine...but not as FUN as the kit cars/DIY cars that I mentioned earlier....and a bought Lambo wouldn't be MINE. Buying someone else's creation is great, but building your own, your way, to be for you...you can't beat that. THIS gear head would not buy a Lombo, even if he had $250k in spare cash. Too much money, too little reward.

I went with the Boxster instead. By the time you option either out (face it Porsche like BMW (bought one of those too) starts with an engine, everything else is an option. So by the time you have it where it's comfortable, you're pretty far above the price of a basic C7. Ride and handling is incredible, it does have a warranty, and it was all I needed (well the wife wanted a convertible). Exhaust is sweet too (especially downshifts) along with the Auto. Just keep it in Sport and shift it at 7500 with the paddles or stick. Dealer was superb - they delivered it to my driveway after picking it out - 10% off without much hassle. The drawback (other than price), is you can't see the motor without jacking it up and it doesn't (like Beemers) come with a jack so if you plan on working on it, stop at the Parts Counter on your way out the door because your floor jack won't work. Oh - if you only have 100 ft/lb torque wrench, you'll need to upgrade that too - wheel lug torque is 120 ft/lbs (which seems ridiculous for the 20 inch Carrera wheels I optioned it out with but that's what the book says)

No, I don't think I would trade "up." One of the things I love about the C4 is that it's understated (for a sports car) and it's classy. The Camaros, Vipers and Shelby Mustangs just shout "look at me" and beg for any attention they can get, from anyone willing to look twice. They look too loud and that's not my style. Now the Porsches and Audis, they are classier but I just don't like the rear engine (Porsche) or European styling. Just my $0.02

If I had a garage and the $$ I'd keep the 35th Anni and add another "toy"...

I love my C4...but I'd get a newer Porsche Boxster S no questions asked. Close to my ideal sports car in a mid engined car just as C2, C3, C4's are in front engine configuration. I.e. sub 100" wheelbase, no compromises. If I can fit a bike, my wifes luggage and a weeks groceries in it, I bought the wrong car

I don't really think you can get more sports car for the money than a C4 but for a fun ride that shouldn't be too temperamental a Lotus Exige.

Sounds like you did good. I will buy a low mile used Cayman S, 6 speed I think. Sort of hard to find around here. Looked at the only used one within 100 miles today but it was a tiptronic. Just dont have the $$$$$ for new. I have gone as much as 5 years without taking the roof off so I will do the coupe instead of a Boxter.
I do have some nic SnapOn torque wrenches but I hope to not use them on a P car.

ch@0s, by far the only car that has ever left me trembling and weak in the knees after a hard run was a kit Cobra with a very worked over big block. I couldn't stop laughing after the run for about 10 minutes, my brain was just not functional enough to do anything else.....it was that fun and terrifying at the same time. I have driven or rode in several drag and high horse cars, but something about the mystic of the Cobra is intoxicating.
