What is a fair selling price for my vehicle
I am selling a 1984 coupe with 49,000 original miles. It has been modified so I am unsure what to sell it for. I dont want to rip anyone off nor do I want to get low balled. I have new door panels ordered so when viewing the pictures keep in mind there will be new panels. I am going to list every problem with this vehicle that I know of. It drives fine but these are things I would fix if I was keeping it.
#1 needs a new fuel pump system
#2 digital Tach stays at 0 rpm untill you drive it for a couple miles
#3 mirror switchs in the center console do not work
#4 needs new weatherstripping
#5 light inside the center consol does not work. may just need bulb.
#6 CD player did work before I redid the carpeting but now I cant figure out what the hell I did. should be easy fix
#7 The coolant fan is wired to toggle switch ( previous owner did that) I kept it that way because i was not sure if sensor went bad
#8 A/C doesnt work ( not sure why not, never checked)
#9 Hood release latch broken but you can open hood by pulling wires with pliers
#10 minor wear and tear
#11 horn doesnt work
#12 Tint has a few bubbles ( I would replace it bc it was a ****** job)
I replaced the carpeting and put new Pleather on the seats. As mentioned before the door panels are ordered.
The red key is a battery kill switch
All black, tinted windows, black wheels, 49000 original miles
New carpeting, restored seats, lights on the pillars do not have blubs in them so not sure if they work
coolant fan toggle switch and red battery kill key
I believe the tail lights are after market. They are dark red
black wheels, new tires
hood release latch is broken, you have to open by pulling wire with pleirs. its simple but something I would fix if I was keeping the vehicle
a chunk of the targa top is off. Worse damage to the body.
restored seats, new center consol door
The work the previous owner had done before he sold it

Some how I made a mistake when posting the pictures. I wrote something about each one and assumed it would be attached to the photo but instead they are seperate underneath "the red key is a battery kill switch"

6-grand, cash in hand might buy that 84. $6500 for sure! to be honest, $3500 for yours, I'm thinking is a bit generous. to me, $2500. sorry, but you asked....

well, whether it's high mileage, or low mileage, it's all about condition. the stealth bomber black paint on your 84 might appeal to some, it would not to most. add in, a handful of minor issues, some could be a bit costly, and, even an entry level paint job, and someone could drop another $3K-$5K in your car without batting an eye. now compare your 84 to this 84 -

It would probably cost 1500-2000 to get the one i have back to mint condition. I agree about the paint but i have got a lot of positive feedback with it. Not really my thing but apparently some people like it. Next question would be where is the best place to put out up for sale at to get the most for it? I'm going to inform them of every issue

There is a mint, gorgeous 84 with 24k languishing in the classified section at $8500. I'd buy it in a second if I could.

The resale value on the 84 is in basement. Mine has Xram intake and a bunch of other new parts both in the engine , suspension and interior. The car is clean as a whistle both inside and out. Its garaged and I would be thrilled if I could get $4500. The paint job on your car alone would be close to $5,000. And you also now need rims. Most buyers are not interested in the way you have the car set up. They also dont care to much about the head gasket because in the back of their mind they are wondering was the job dont right or are they looking at trouble down the road.It would almost pay for you to finish the car your self. You went this far why not complete it? And NO you will never get your money back. Unless your rear bumper says ZR1 , Calloway, or some other rare ID C4 owners always loose in the end. Thats the way the hobby goes.

id be in the 1500$ range.
i dont really believe the mileage when the car is in that shape.

Burning Brakes
That is the thing, even if the mileage is correct, the car doesn't reflect it. Better money at that low miles if the car was in great original condition.
Just keep it and have fun with it!
