Default Car Wash fiasco

There's a hand car wash near me that I've been going to for over 20 years. They do a decent job normally and I have my C4 on a membership program where I get unlimited car washes for $25/mo. So today I take my car in and of course they have trouble with the e-brake. Most of them learned it, but this guy kept pulling it up about 25 times like he was trying to rip it out. Then he got frustrated and proceeded to pull some more. I'm thinking that I'm going to spend another day under the car fixing a broken cable. At that point another guy came over and gently disengaged the brake. The 1st guy then jumped in the car and slammed the door hard. I was inside and saw the whole thing, but I did go to the window and banged on it while this was going on.

I started to stew a bit and got up and promptly cancelled my membership. I had to fill out a form and explained what had happened. Then a call to the manager who called me into the office. It turned out to be the same guy who was pulling the brake. Anyway I gave him an earful and told him I was done with him.

I'll start cleaning it myself. I just need to get the minerals out or the water.

Not only can't I find a good mechanic, I can't even find a good car wash.

I always wash mine by hand at home, but I know what you mean about hard water ...

I stopped going 3 years back. I saw a guy drop a sponge on the ground and didn't even return it to the rinse sink. I pulled my car out of the line-up and never went back.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys fine American cinema.

I told him to F off, but a loud truck horn went off just as I said it.

I wash my own car as it really doesn’t take long. However I don’t hesitate to bring my F-150 to folks to wash it. It’s a truck so if it’s clean it’s decent. I just have a different standard for my DD
However you were right to expect more from a hand wash place.

What in the world could be so difficult about the e-brake that the dude couldn't figure it out!?

Honestly its lost on a lot of people to pull up to release. When I change my tires I stand along side the kid to make sure he knows how to move it. Its generational. Remember those cars you could not start until the brake pedal was engaged? Then theres an old story of a friend of mine who had a old dodge 60s era van that had a pushbutton transmission on the IP under the radio. He used to chuckle why the service guy could not figure out how to move his van but I digress ...

Sorry to hear about the drama. You'll be happier knowing that only you are paying the proper attention to your 'vette. Trust me.

Later,

Years ago, I had a 92 Chevy pickup. it had the aluminum wheels with the plastic center cap. The plastic center cap had false lug nuts, much like some of the C4 wheels. I had the truck at a garage where they were going to install new tires and chose to watch the workers. I'm glad I did. The young man grabbed his impact wrench and went to "loosen" the fake lug nuts. I stopped him just in time and showed him how to gently pry off the cover.

Caught me off guard with my first C4, watched the smog guy stall the car I dont know how many times til I showed him. Oh well

On car washes x2 noone touches the car except me. Not so much for the clean part but some seem ham fisted and break stuff just touching it.
In fact Ive never once hosed off the old schooler just a wipe down/***** batch 1-2x a yr and 1 wax thats it.

DD just slowly seems to go to hell fine by me lol

I disagree. You can't expect much from people who wash dozens of cars a day. They don't care about the car nearly as much as you do and are just going through the motions probably unhappy their working at a car wash.

I have four cars and will occasionally wash all of them in the same day. By the time I'm drying off the last one, I definitely lack enthusiasm. That's why I was the Corvette first. It would be a rare individual who might wash dozens and keep a smile on their face.
