Why did you buy a C4?
#202
Nothing much unfortunately. I've been having some money problems lately so I couldn't even pay the registration not to mention the insurance. So I haven't done much with the Vette it's been just sitting and waiting. I got to drive a small roadster with a targa a couple days ago and it really got me missing my Vette. So I hope I get to take it out at least for a couple of days this summer.

Thank you only took 35+ years, I started out as a C3 guy back in 77 a 68. When the 84 came out I looked them over and said I would never own one. In 87 I picked one up and fell in love with them. Than the 1st ZR-1 the 91 came in 02.
I've had a C5 drove it 165K miles it was more just a DD. Now have an 82 CE to feed the old times and 3 C4's 91 Quasar ZR-1 with a Haibeck 510hp package, 93 Comp Yellow ZR-1 and the wife's 95 LT1 Yellow with 200K+ miles. I love all Corvette's but the C4 will always be in my garage.

I don't think that everyone that buys a C4 is basing it off cost. I've had over 50 cars and motorcycles both domestic and foreign. My previous Corvettes were C3's and I loved them. They were scary to drive fast though. With the C4 you get a good looking car that you can drive without worry. I now have a polo green 96LT4 and it's a great car to drive. I was surprised at how well it handles for an old car. Most people that drive Corvettes just love cars.

That's my thing. I just love to drive a car hard, and the C4 is perfect for my tastes. It corners like it's on rails, and the speed/acceleration performance is quick enough to get me in trouble, but tame enough to keep me out of trouble (when I'm not feeling too feisty).

Why a C4
Well first my reason is this. I started out with a new 1962 340 hp 4 speed. The last solid axle, first 327. It was a blast and easy to work on. Next was a 1966 coupe 350hp 4 speed, knock off wheels, purchased new. Next was a 1978 L82 4 speed, beautiful car but no power, also bought new. To the present I purchased my 1996 CE LT4 used in 2007. I sold the 78 in 1982 and was without of Vette for many years. I love the looks of the C4, the lines remind me of my C2. I could have purchased any newer model, but just loved the lines of the C4. It is also a fast car. I have wrenched all my life, but just do routine maintenance on this car. I am now 80 and I think this vette will see me out. Save the wave. Larry

Got my 86 Z51 4+3 on a trade last summer. Kid wanted an AR15 more than the car, Yep got a whopping $550 in the car. This is my first Vette, people seem to bash the C4 but the first time I drove this car I fell in love with it. My son talked me into keeping it instead of flipping it for a profit. Now some $3k later she's almost done except for paint. Yea I may end up with more in it than its worth but the time spent with my youngest working on it is priceless!

I hope you get it as soon as possible because I can tell you that even though I'm not able to drive it right now I can tell you that getting the Vette and being able to drive it around was one of the best things. If you've always wanted a C4 then when you get it it's gonna be awesome.

if all goes well, I should have it by the end of the day Tomorrow. If not, This weekend sometime.
not sure if my pic is going to show up, but here's the IMGUR link:

such a beauty.
They just look freaking bada**. It's that simple. Like someone else said in this thread, the new ones scream look at me, while these Vettes are the silent type but everyone knows they're there. Plus, I see C6's and now 7's every day. Yes, they are sweet looking. But C4s are getting more and more rare. Love them.
I had an 86 a few years ago, sold it and regretted it. This one is a 93.

I have a feeling a lot of people on this board bought a C4 because its all they could afford. Am i wrong?
I bought my 91 on purpose. I wanted a C4. My first C4 was and 86. At the time C5s had just come out and were out of my price range. I was looking for a C3 because that's the car i fell in love with as a kid. I happened upon the 86 and after driving C3s the 86 was a much better car and I fell in love with it.

My first Vette was a '69 small block convertible which, unfortunately, I sold when I became married and purchased a more family friendly vehicle. I never got over selling my '69 so after the kids left I purchased a '94 LT1 convertible. When the C5s were released I looked but was never a fan of the body style, and still am not. I kept my C4 fifteen years and really did not wish to trade it but new parts were beginning to become hard to find and there was no one in my area had the software for the OBD 1 computer other than the Chevrolet dealer. For these reasons only, I traded for a C6 LS3 convertible. I am very pleased with the C6 but I still miss my C4. I have always thought that the C4 was a much better looking car than the C5. It has a classic sports car look that the C5 does not, in my opinion.
