My prior '88 was not a "beast" but did ok in the 1/4 mile and on Corvette cruizes.
I had the chance to drive a bone stock 2000 C5 6-speed which "felt" quicker than my '88, though I easily beat any bone stock C5 to the stripes.
In the 80,s and early to mid 90,s C4 Corvette's were the best...Now they're just older Corvette's.. We may personally like them alot, but they're far from the best today... You can put a high horsepower motor into anything and make it fast, but in stock form, base model C4s are slow compared to the newer cars...Now, the ZR-1 is a different story.......I'm by no means putting C4s down, I wouldn't trade mine for anything, but I would love to have a C7, now they're the best...........WW

Sure there are plenty of cars faster than a C4, either newer lightweight models (the Genesis Coupe comes to mind) or more powerful cars including newer Corvettes. But for sheer driving pleasure and cornering/handling ability, the C4 is one of the best cars ever made IMO.
I love the C4's. I have had 2 C5's and a C6.
But I love the C4's, they are my favorite. Are they the fastest car today? No. But I like the feel of them. I felt my C6 was too "civilized." I have a C5 that will be y daughters one day, and I enjoy it for a change, but I just am in love with the C4's. (Did I already say that? )
I love every generation and have owned C4, C5, C6, and my shark gray Z51 C7 was just ordered. Each gen has something unique and special about it. I'll always love the C4 for the smaller body and raw pure driving experience. I have to say though after driving the C7 stingray it's just on another level. All vettes are kickass but that C7 ... Dayuuum
