Default Ins. Rates for C4s....

just curious what folks pay for ins. rates on their C4s...

as i have been looking, i never really checked w/ my ins. co to see, when i saw an '86 that caught my eye, i asked my ins co. the quote i got was:

$333 for 6 mo. premium ($250 deductible, 40/day rental reimbursement)
if i wanted liability only, it would be $105 for 6 month premium...

and granted i get a discount b/c we have our home ins and 2 other cars insured w/ our co.

and i'm in IA...our rates are probably lower than folks in the "big cities!"

Contact the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Ky, Best Rates and programs. Ask for Adam Boca or Bobby Joe. Great to deal with. My 93, with 6,000 miles allowed per year and agreed value runs 213.00 per year.

If you don't get specialty insurance with an agreed value. You will get practically nothing if something happens to the car. Ask your insurance company before you purchase the policy. What is your car worth to them?

good luck

There is no such thing as a "General Quote".

Insurance rates are based on an each individual, their age, driving record, where they live, and then finally the car.
Some companies are even doing credit checks these days.

Insurance companies use loss statistics in order to determine your rates.
If your age group, location, etc are costing them more money, then they will have higher rates.

A C4 Corvette is just an old used car these days.
So insurance rates are cheaper than just about any new car.

My '96 is way cheaper than my '12 Silverado or '11 Camaro.

Trying to compare insurance rates with another person is just about pointless.
That same exact car will have rates all over the place depending on the the person, and where they live.

Corvette insurance seems to be in range with regular passenger cars that I have owned given equal coverage. It helps to keep the mileage low. The last vette I daily drove was on a liability policy anyhow, but the full coverage ones are quoted for weekend mileage.

About the same to insure a new mustang but a LOT less than WRX's and Evo's.

Not sure what the Vette added, let's see, two cars were insured for about $65/mo, added the Vette and now it's $95/mo. I'm well over 50, insured through Geico. Fairly basic coverage. So about $500/year-ish.

I have a '84 and '91 insured through the National Corvette Museum, one year, $410 for both. I'm limited on miles, but that's okay, they're not my daily drivers.

Grundy, but mine's not a DD.

NEVER again, USAA.. They really botched my car, then refused to stand by their lifetime warranty.

It ain't just about premium, but also about service in claims and character, plus honesty.

Lastnight I looked into NCM and got a quote of $197 per year. Today I got an email saying they can't provide coverage in NY. Lol. Haggerty was a little more on their quote but a good amount less than I am paying now.
