If any Corvette generation could be a stepchild it should be the C5 which will be remembered for not ever offering anything special other than perhaps the Z06. C5 will always be the "used car" Corvette

How so??? I think the C5 was an amazing machine with the introduction of the LS1 and active handling. Looks are also subjective but I think it's one of he best looking generations with its low and wide look.

I have a Jeep wrangler and they also do the wave thing. Once I waved at a jeep and he didn't wave back. OK whatever. I am at the gas station and the Jeep comes right up to me and the guy is like "I'm sorry man I didn't see till it was too late, nice jeep man!!" LMAO That made my freakin week. Here is my wrangler !!

When I went to Ca this summer from Az I got 3 waves. Well 1 I didn't count cuz I think he was telling me I was number 1. He was driving a new Vette and I waved at him and he raised one finger. The other waves were 3 gals in a C-5 and another guy in a C-3. I still have tears in my eyes as big as horse turds cuz the first guy hurt my feelings!!! First time that ever happened-----------yea, right!!!

That's just nuts. The base C5 was equal to the C4 ZR1 in every way. The C5 is what made the C4 the so called step child. A huge move forward. But I like all Corvettes. And I wave to C4 drivers. Every Corvette generation is a performance improvement over the last. But C4 to C5 was by far the biggest jump.

It confounds me any Corvette owner would be such an a-hole to flip the bird at another from simply waving. That kind of behavior is childish and uncalled for.
Hell, I was taking a walk one day and got a return wave from the driver of a C2.
I think your interpretation of "biggest jump" is just as "nuts." The C4 damn near single-handedly saved the Corvette, and it also brought it back to world wide performance prominence after what happened to the late C3. It was also the first to start to be considered an actual sports car by some of those outside the US.
And no, the base C5 was not equal to the C4 ZR1 in every way. I agree the C5 was a great step forward in technology and performance, but I think you're way overstepping the reality of it. In the manner of performance, the jump from C5 to C6 was just as pronounced.
