Stood up for C4s at our club meeting!!
Our local Corvette club had it's monthly meeting yesterday. We have a new club president, and he was giving us the history of the Corvette wave. He admonished us to make sure and save the wave at the end of his talk. I couldn't contain myself and spoke up that everyone should remember that C4s are Corvettes too and that we deserve to be recognized as such. And to remember that without 1984-1996 there wouldn't be the C5-C6and C7.
I have a 95 and an 08. It's amazing how many other Corvettes won't wave when I'm in my 95 but will in my 08. So, remember, save the wave. Even wave at those that don't know they made corvettes before 2010!

Thanks! And you are right. Some C5 and C6's Ive pulled up next to I might as well have been driving a yugo. Personally it doesnt hurt my feelings but I believe in following traditions. And the rear bumper on my car says "Corvette".

My Corvette club is the local NCRS chapter. My experience is the C4 gets lots of respect there. The recently-outgoing national president is a C4 guy and wrote the C4 Judging Manual.

When i first got my 93 in '00....
I got more waves then than i do now.
a lot of the new corvette types dont want their pride and joy being associated with the rougher riding, tough to get into, expensive-to-fix-and-breaking-down often 'lesser' models.
These are the kinds of people who cant/dont mod. Or maybe they have to hire some speed shop to do their work.
They dont understand a modd c4 will whip their c5/6/7 butt.
They think because they paid more/ still making payments that its better.
Corvette gen superiority complexes have weakened our community here.
Im better friends with f body and mustang guys than i am with most late model corvette guys (with a few exceptions)

In my 5 months of ownership I've gotten exactly 3 waves, 1 from a C3, one from an old couple in a C6 on a two lane and one thumbs up from a good looking Mustang.
I wonder if some of the new Corvette owners even know what a C-4 is.
Out of almost 60 members in our club I know of only 2 C-4s

I remember when C3s bottomed out and the C4s were in their hey day. I love my C4 but always wanted a C3 but now can't afford a good one. It's just a matter of personal taste.
ALL VETTES ARE COOL!!! I always wave too.

When I was a kid and drove an MG, all British sports car owners waved to each other. Misery loves company.
Seriously, in my 96 coupe, black with black interior and blacked out windows, if the windows are rolled up no one can see me whether I'm waving or not, sooo part of it's my fault, but if the windows are down and I wave, I almost always get a wave back; most memorable wave? coming over a ridge crest in the coast range on a small outback country road, the driver in an immaculate C1 waves to me; it took me back 40 years.....damn sure I returned that wave.
