Uhh .. the man asked for opinions as to what we thought. The people that responded used his terminology - "cheesy or cool".

Personally I vote for cheesy - but hell, if you want to put red LEDs inside your tailpipes, more power to you.

As has been stated before many times "It's not MY car, you do what you want."

It's all in how much "attention" the owner is screaming for.

I doubt anyone on this forum has a C4 that will catch this car.
Hell I doubt anyone on this forum has a vette period that will hang with this car from a dig.
That's 1100 at the wheels...all four wheels.
Yeah, ricers suck alright

Honda Civic Red Rocket [9.77@243] Vs. Dodge Viper Drag Race - YouTube How many of you have a 9.7 second C4? How many of you have a C4 that can walk a viper and I'm not talkin a 20 year old Gen 1.

No wonder people think of the Corvette as a lame old man's car. You guys are perpetuating the stereotype perfectly.
No ricer lights on those drag monsters. So, what the hell does age or drag racing have to do with lights in the gill panel? You're sounding butt-hurt because the Fast and Furious (movie) wannabes are all about lights in all the wrong places.. But, hey! if you like it, fine. Put 'em in your BVDs if it makes ya happy. But, if it is cheesy to others, well, then it is cheesy to others. So what? No need to "cast dispersions" I recon. All in good fun

My knee jerk reaction was "Yes.", but thinking about it, I'm not so sure.

It's been mentioned that we bought the "lame old man's car" C4 on purpose. I make enough money that I could swing a C6 or even a C7 if I really wanted to. But instead, I have a 20 year old and an 30 year old car. And really, beyond fellow enthusiasts, a 30 year old car isn't really that flashy.

I get a thrill of satisfaction just walking out to the garage and looking at her lines. Thinking about summer trips and sitting with the top out eating lunch at some little diner off the main road someplace.

Nowhere in that does the "hey, look at me" really show itself much.

So, while "flashy" and "look at me" is there, I don't think it's the priority, at least for me.

Or maybe I just can't bring myself to admit it...

For me it's all about having that extra vroom when you step on the peddle. Mines a dd, polo green covered in road salt right now. C4 were made to be driven and at 20 years old they can still get up n go.

Don't forget to illuminate the stick on portholes as well. They need to match to get the maximum horsepower out of the system.

But ONLY if they are the high performance stick on type! Otherwise they won't look good.

I think we'd all be a bit disingenuous if we didn't admit that being noticed, or least the car being noticed wasn't part of owning a sports car. Isn't that part of a car "show" or parades, to "show" it off? Isn't that part of waxing it so it shines and turns heads? If the car was boring or uninteresting we wouldn't be driving it. Right? Owning a sports car is visceral but also conscious thought and reason.

I own the car purely for my enjoyment. The opinions of others don't matter one bit. I do like cleaning and waxing it but it's not for the result as much as the process. My favorite thing to divwith the car is sit and look at it.

Vendor links? or DYI articles? Anyone done this and have pics and/or video to share?
Here in Finland the side turn lights are mandatory after certain year, so I had to install some leds to mine to keep them as stealth as possible:

Put them on some profiles

...and installed those profiles into side gills. Without turning signal, nothing shows

..until lit

Here is a short video, how they work:

Sorry, can't.

When downloaded to your computer, it should play without problems with Windows Media Player, or if you're using some other OS, for example with VLC video player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

At least not yet, but I think that can be arranged by the end of the week (after I return home from this commute)
