C4 side gill lights?
The side gills have openings in them and was wondering if there are aftermarket LED lighting system to create subtle linear streams of light? Curious how would this look? Cool or cheesy? If it looks good it would be interesting to also hook them up to the turn signals.
Vendor links? or DYI articles? Anyone done this and have pics and/or video to share?
Thanks

Cool.
Make sure you get some quality pieces, and they'll look great and last as long as you have them put in.
Paul, it ends at the taste of the owner obviously. And most..... won't turn it into a pep boys special gone wrong. You don't even see the lights when they aren't on. Unless you're standing right at my halo, you don't even see the leds I used for my trunk bay when they're not on. And even then you have to look for them since I recessed them. When they are on, yeah you see them..that's the point. And they also light the trunk far better than the factory trunk lights do. (to such a point that you don't even see any of the "white" from the trunk lights in the trunk, aside from their little gill covered mounts). Function as well as form when you're looking for something in the trunk in the middle of the night.
Funnily enough, even though people have been putting neon in their cars since the 70s (now it's all LED...cheaper, more durable, and brighter, and easier to work with), it's mostly a generational thing. Those of us 35 and younger, are more likely to like it. Lighting, has been a mainstream part of customization since most of us in that age group could legally drive, if not before some of us were born (those of you 15 to 18 year olds with C4s now! ).
The older crowd is less likely to think it's cool.
It's all to your taste though, OP.

Well I think they are fun. I have the CorvetteHID.com kit with a remote fob. I turn them on when the mood stikes me.
Easy to install and remove mod for that matter. I dont know why some folks are wrapped so tight about doing anything different to their ride. Your car do as you wish.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do this modification or not but here is my .02 on the subject.
The the defense, this is what used to be said about turn signal mods on side mirrors until automakers started making it standard. Interior mood lighting, until automakers starting offering it as an option. Those little side grill stick on things you get at the auto parts store and stick on the front quarter panel. Cheesy said by some, until automakers started making it part of the design. See the 2015 Kia Optmia for example.
It all comes down to personal taste and preference. How many people still like all those over-the-top fins on 1950's cars? Those could be considered cheesy, right? Maybe some don't because they're classic cars now, and part of automobile history.
Okay so here is my thought if doing so to minimize any cheese ...
They have to be subtle lights, and the stream of light can't spread so much that it looks like a blob of light. The light can not shine through any spaces in the seams of the quarter panel - That looks cheesy. They can't pulsate or dance to music or fade in an out.
I'm thinking very soft, subtle, ambler lights that just produce a soft glow from each orifice. I'm thinking similarly to the soft interior lights in my '94 right by the handle pull that just produces that soft amber down glow inside - but not as intense or bright. Yes, I do like giving them a purpose like an extra turn signal, for safety and visibility reasons.
Anyway ... we'll see.. it's not a hard mod to do and take off if you didn't like it.

I doubt anyone on this forum has a C4 that will catch this car.
Hell I doubt anyone on this forum has a vette period that will hang with this car from a dig.
That's 1100 at the wheels...all four wheels.
Yeah, ricers suck alright
No wonder people think of the Corvette as a lame old man's car. You guys are perpetuating the stereotype perfectly.
