Default Clutch hydraulic issues/question.

Hi,
usually I hang out on the C2 Forum as I have more issues with the C2 than my C4. BUT,when I went to use the C4 the other day the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and I couldn't engage any gears. Research on the forum shows it's a common problem with C4's, so per forum suggestions, I'm going to change both the master and slave cylinders. So after removing the fender, computer and battery, sure enough, I can see the master cylinder is out of fluid.
But what is mystifying me is: there in no evidence of leakage anywhere. Not a drop to be found. Not on the master, the slave , the fittings or piping. The car is parked in the same spot all the time and there was none on the floor either.
Any thoughts as to where the fluid went?
Thanks, Jim

Is it a pull or push type clutch?

Into the bell housing? If you've never checked the level before, it's possible you just lost a little each drive and it got burnt off burnt off by the clutch. Unless you've noticed the clutch slipping, which means that the clutch fluid has contaminated the pressure plate. Good luck.

About 5+ years ago, my master clutch cylinder let go. Same as you describe, no leaks anywhere around the cylinder, or on the tube down to the slave.
It leaked into the interior through the firewall. Carpeting was soaked with fluid.

The slave cylinder on my 92 leaks when its cold or after the car has set. Mine leaks on the exhaust and gets burned off.

Default Push or pull

According to the service manual, it's pull type.

There is going to have to be a leak somewhere then. IIRC with a pull type clutch the fluid level will rise as the clutch wears.
