What are these latches in the door jambs?
I went to buy some parts from a guy and asked him what these were for on his car. He had a late C4 (94-96) and a early (84-89) both with these factory installed. Neither were convertibles.
I told him my car doesn't have these, he said all C4's should. There is no indication that my car ever had these. It's a 1993 coupe with a production date of 11/92 (the white car). The black car is an '85 with a build date of 6/85.
What are these for? and why does my '93 not have them?

My 91 has them, the one on the door slips into the B-pillar one and kind of lifts and "supports" the door when its closed, I was just looking at it a few days ago two because I hadn't noticed them before but yup it kind of centers the door on my car, not sure if its the same effect on others

Burning Brakes
I will have to check mine but I don't ever remember seeing anything like that before. Mine is a 96 convertible. I'll let you know when I get a chance to look.

I always thought the last year for the "locator pins" in production were '92, your '93 seems to confirm that. The other car you mention looking at since it's not "documented" I can't really comment on.
I would think the only thing that would "confirm" them being production would be a snapshot of the drivers door displaying both the pin and the certification label.

I have a 89 Convertible. My door always sounded like crap when I hit a bump. Door ajar light. Would flash. Closer inspection, somebody replaced my driver door with a 94. Doesn't have the door pin. Passanger side has one. I ordered a door pin but guess what. No holes to install it. Lol. I will get around to drilling some holes eventually. Hope this helps.

Maybe they fixed/made stronger the door hinges in the later years, cuz without that "alignment" pin I could definately see how much harder it would be to close the door properly on my 91
