Default My 1994 M6 coupe Restoration Thread...Pic Heavy

Ok, so I am compiling everything in here that I will do on my 94 M6 coupe. I'll post up pics as I go. I'll be addressing these one at a time as time goes on. This was a 6 owner car, 7 with me. Got the car with 157777k and I just rolled past 158k now. Here we go:

Removed broken center compartment button and drivers side lock switch. Lock switch bezel broken. Both on order.

Picture of center shift console. boot is damaged/ripped out of screws maybe? Haven't opened it up yet. Adjustable suspension looks like it had a gauge and buttons to control ride? Who knows wtf this is about.

Another shot.

Hmmm..look what I found today. I wonder if this is why my analog water temp gauge isn't working? Sensor still in head, also melted and broke. Sensor not in picture.

Looks like I may be replacing spark plug wires. Might as well replace the opti as well.

I clean this area, then find oil agaion. Intake oil leak?? Intake gaskets were replaced by a shop last year. Guess they didn't do a very good job. I'll see once I pull the throttle body for cleaning.

Just a random shot.

Another shot

Shot of passenger side engine compartment

Options sticker

These aren't cheap. Haven't ordered yet.

Still need to order this as well. Not cheap.

Needs some tlc here. This is the only part on the car where the paint/clearcoat is like this.

A forum member just pm'ed me and has one of these. I better jump on it. They aren't cheap!!

So today I pulled some codes off the computer. H67, H71 and H34. Two of these are hvac issues. One is a map issue. I haven't had any type of trouble lights come on. So I cleared the codes. I have had a random issue with the ac. Sometimes it works and sometime I'll turn it on and no cold air, weird. No trouble codes in the hvac control. I was under the car doing a little spring cleaning and also found two of the three o2 sensors had exposed crusty wires.

Can someone please identify these parts? They are both located on the intake manifold passenger side.

Top one is the heater control vacuum check valve; first thing to replace if the HVAC is not blowing out the proper duct.

If this were an L98, I would say EGR solenoid for the bottom pic. Not super sure on your LT1.

First item already identified.

I believe the second item is the charcoal canister purge solenoid.
The charcoal canister is located behind the passenger side rear quarter panel at the rear.

No. The prior owner told me he had it disabled. It was always leaking and was expensive to fix. He had it disabled at a corvette shop and had a lowering kit installed. Then he had new shocks put in.

I believe you are correct sir. One of those hoses runs all the way under the car and I believe back. I won a factory service manual set on fleabay last night. Hopefully it will come in by the weekend.

Also found the weather tight plug broken on the map sensor and that purge solenoid. What a pain in the ***.

I just got my 94 back together so if you need some advice I may be able to help. Also the picture of the oil leak, the front and rear block rail-to-manifold areas, where the block and intake meet requires RTV. I had a leak at the rear rail.

The FSM is a must to have.

Pretty sure the intake is leaking oil. Be sure to use Permatex, the right stuff.

The prior owner had a shop replace intake gaskets last year. They must not known wtf they were doing.

Default More repairs today(parts came in) and a nice bath for her

Replaced passenger headlight gear, bushings and gasket. It was a damn mess. Here's the old gear.

New egr came in and I replaced it. Old one had a blown diaphragm and I can hear a bunch of junk in it when I shook it. Probably carbon.

New EGR installed.

Gave her a bath.

Too bad about that little patch on the tail - other than that, she looks perfect. How's the interior?

Interior is not too bad. Leather seats are cracked of course. All the carpet is very decent. No holes or stains anywhere. Glass is all good. Needs weather strip here and there. Outdoor window sweeps are shot. But everything works, except the trunk release on my driver door. I'll be diagnosing that tomorrow.

Btw, what patch are you talking about ?

That color gets me going. Feel the back of the intake, at the bottom of the intake. If you feel oil, then it's the intake gasket.

Aahhh, yes. Fortunately it looks like that plate comes off separately. I'll take it off and take it to my buddy's paint shop.
