I've always liked rubber vs. cork. Just be sure they're torqued properly.

I have been told that you should absolutely NOT use cork on these as they will get oil soaked and leak. The setup is supposedly Fel-Pro Perma-Dry, no additional sealant or cement needed or recommended. I am in the midst of having my original VCs powder-coated and that is what I will be going with.

I was looking at them but what thickness would you use on a 1984 corvette
thanks

Used Felpro rubber on my '85 iron head heads. I stuck the gasket to my new valve covers with Permatex to keep them in place. Since I bought some nice heavy cast aluminum covers I crank them down pretty good. Been 5 years and no problems. The covers have been off a few times and still no issues.

Good luck!

I put FelPro orange rubber on my 87 aluminum center bolts over 25 years ago....not a drop since. One of my GM OEM ones had leaked supposedly since new, I was second owner and first owner not a mechanical type. Turned out one of top corners had the gasket folded inside the valve cover about an inch from the corner...all evidence pointed to the factory installing it that way, the fold was just enough to keep most of the oil blocked from going out the corner. Wont ever really know, but the FelPro rubber has been fine ever since.
