"Quick" Release ***** for removing a targa top.
Just saw a you tube video were a guy had 4 "quick" release ***** to remove his targa top on a 1986 corvette. Does anyone know were and who sells them. It would be allot faster then removing the top with that stupid ratchet wrench!

Just a comment here from someone that uses the flip lever type connectors. Some have plastic levers (go figure) while some are pot metal and others are aluminum. Having had all 3 types, the aluminum ones are the stongest ones I have. Check some of the woodworking supply places (like Rocklers or WW Supply or any of the other major distributors) for them as a number of places do carry them in one form or another. They may cost a little more but are definitely worth the added $$ to get the aluminum ones.
You can also take the female ones (the ones with the treaded insert), take a piece of threaded rod and Loctite it into it to use as a stud if you can't locate one like you want. I've done it and it works also.
I've used a number of them in my shop on machinery and jigs and that's the only ones I buy any more (aluminum whether male or female units) as they hold up over time where the other ones don't.
Just my 2 cents.

If you think the ratchet wrench is too slow, I think your schedule needs to be loosened up a bit. Average Joe can do it in two minutes. It takes almost as much time to lift out the top and stow it in the back.
Get a convertible.
Get a convertible.

When you reinstall your top, start all four bolts in their threads. Tighten the rear bolts first, then tighten the front bolts.
If you EVER just set the top in place, with plans to tighten the bolts later, put your "top wrench" in your drivers seat, as a reminder to tighten the bolts!!! The alternative is membership in the Flying Top Club! Not a good thing!!!

Well I think they are asking about removing the factory bolts in favor of the **** stuff people were talking about a the start of the thread. Thus the current bolts would be in the way of new **** bolts they are talking about swapping. If I understand what they are asking about right.

Your question is a little confusing. Why are you asking about removing the header molding? Have you found the front bolts, which are accessible thru the holes next to the sun visor pivots? The bolt heads have the same star pattern as the rear bolts. The front bolts should not become separated from the car when you remove your top.
