Default Question about A/C control head on 1995

The a/c control on my 95 does the following. At times it will not let you change fan speeds and some times it will not change from floor to vent to defrost etc, when you push the button the light just stays on whatever setting it was on before you push the button. I spoke with a very good friend of mine who is also a mechanic by trade. He said it sounds like the contacts in the buttons are possibly dirty because he thinks because the light does not indicate and attempt to change settings he thinks it may be a contact issue. He thinks we may be able to take the control apart and fix the problem since a rebuilt one cost $400.00 dollars I feel is worth a try. Has anyone attempted to take one of the apart? Does it sound like this may be the problem. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Keep on cruising and be safe.

Thanks

Gooseit.

Yes mine did the same. Its easy to take apart and clean. Ill try and dig up the link on how to do it. Don't pay to have this done. If you are insisting on paying I will do it for you. Give me a minute and I post a link.

Common problem! most likely you need to clean the push button contacts.

Had to tKe mine apart to replace 2 of the 4 light bulbs. You can get them at Napa if you need them. They run around $4. Each. It's not a hard job.
