Early C4's overpriced???

I think the early C4's are under priced. They should be compared to 911's! I think the C4 is a nicer all-around car than the 911, and deals abound! Who says KBB is the authority?
Want to loose a lot of money on a Corvette? Buy a new C7! How much will you have lost by this time next year? Probably more than you paid for your early C4!

From RollaMo - LT4:
"Or, he told his wife he would put it up for sale and he can't figure out why it hasn't sold yet."
This is the basis of 99% of used Corvette pricing. Well said.

I agree some are overpriced but also remember when you see those ads there are 2 kinds of ads.
1. The owner wants it gone and or needs the money or to them its just an old car.
(These are the ones that you see cheap and can be picked up just as cheap as any old used car)
2. The owner is interested in selling it and wants a good price to buy something else if it sells but it wont bother them much if it doesn't sell or they sell on craigslist etc a good bit.
(These are the ones with experience normally. If you sell much and or sell on craigslist you over price the item/car by a good bit. The reason to do this is people want a "deal". They want to feel they ripped the seller off or they are some awesome buyer. You pad the price a good bit over what you want so they can "jew you down" from the list price. You never get what you want from a craigslist sale normally so you pad the price.)

C4 prices are all over the map, but given their age, and what has/hasn't been done to them, so is the condition.
So to counterbalance your 20k mile car for $18k, you have my 94/6mt with 180k miles that was driven under a chain link fence, for $3k....
I have just at 5k into it now, including a Sparco Evo seat in my garage, extra track tires/wheels, racing pads, brake ducts, fully poly kit, new hood and paint job.

Personally, I agree with the OP. When I was searching for a C4 a few months ago, it seemed like the asking prices of the early c4's were a bit more on the delusional side than the asking prices of the 90's cars. However, as time goes on it WILL become harder and harder to find nice 80's C4's, and the value will climb accordingly. But right now pricing it like that is more wishful thinking than reality. Which is the owner's prerogative, mind you.
Meh - people often price their cars at what they wish they were worth. Like putting a new paint job, tires, seats, all new leathers and an engine in your '84 and then trying to sell it for what you have in it. Never gonna happen, but that doesn't stop people from wishing and hoping.
Putting $15,000 into a $5000 car just makes it a really really nice $6000 car. But I can see someone trying to sell it for $20k.
