Early C4's overpriced???
So every once in awhile I look for other C4's to see whats out there and man do i see some ridiculously overpriced (IMO) out there!!
i just found a 85 Houston for 18k with 30k miles, that's almost at early ZR-1 prices!! I found a 91 ZR-1 for 20k with 40k on it, am I looking too much into it, or do some people really believe just because it has a "Corvette" badge its automatically worth it??
I love the C4 and own a 85 have owned 3 in total, But besides being the first year TPI and maybe Z51 there isn't much special about them or at least not 18K special??

More power to them (If) they sell at those prices, I look forward to the day when the C4 truly becomes a Classic Corvette, at least the ones with rare options. In reality it will be long after my time.

A car is only worth what some one is willing to pay for it. Asking price has never meant anything to me. I bought my spotless 94 M6 car for $6K, granted it has 120K miles on it but it is show ready and everything works and looks like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. Even with the mileage, it's a lot more car than a low mileage early C4.
The can ask all they want, but the value of a car won't be set until a buyer hands over the money.

There's a white 88 conv near me, with 18,000 miles for $10,000 in perfect shape..I would say the one your looking at is way over priced.....WW
PS..If anyone wants the listing on the 88 , let me know...I can't post it now, Im on my tablet...

Or, he told his wife he would put it up for sale and he can't figure out why it hasn't sold yet.
It is his car, and he can put any price on it he wants.
If you don't want to buy it, move on to the next one.
So, why are you even bitching about it?
You never had any intention of buying it, so move on to one you can afford.
What someone lists their cars for isn't anybody's business but their own.
You have 3 options:
1. Buy the car for what he's asking
2. Talk him into a lower price
3. Move on to the next car
Just a wast of time complaining on the internet that it is priced too high.

You don't need to "wrap your head" around it.

No one is bitching here bud, my question was "does anyone else agree that some prices for early c4 too high compared to what else was on the market"... No i don't have any intention of buying i even stated that i like to "look" at whats out there and it's just something I've noticed... However I believe that went WAY over your head
Putting $15,000 into a $5000 car just makes it a really really nice $6000 car. But I can see someone trying to sell it for $20k.

That's more along the lines I figured it would be, I don't ever plan on parting with mine again but the South Texas market seems inflated to me

Threads about C4 pricing leaving members worked up about prices being too high or too low causing dismay and confusion. Not to mention the improper use of the "Dupe" emoticon.
I can't wait for the "what's your favorite CD for driving your C4" thread. I would say the "What's the best color for a C4" thread but I see that was done a couple days ago. Where's Hokie when you need him?

Been gone for a couple years, it's good to see things never change.

I agree some are overpriced but also remember when you see those ads there are 2 kinds of ads.
1. The owner wants it gone and or needs the money or to them its just an old car.
(These are the ones that you see cheap and can be picked up just as cheap as any old used car)
2. The owner is interested in selling it and wants a good price to buy something else if it sells but it wont bother them much if it doesn't sell or they sell on craigslist etc a good bit.
(These are the ones with experience normally. If you sell much and or sell on craigslist you over price the item/car by a good bit. The reason to do this is people want a "deal". They want to feel they ripped the seller off or they are some awesome buyer. You pad the price a good bit over what you want so they can "jew you down" from the list price. You never get what you want from a craigslist sale normally so you pad the price.)
