Default Radio Receiver

I recently bought a 1994 corvette convertible and the radio receiver is in the storage box behind the passenger seat. It is inside a plastic bag.

My question: Why would that be? Is it ok for me to take it out and make a foam tray to hold it securely? I think the plastic is tacky!

Thanks for your suggestions.

I wonder if previous owner did that because of a leak? Ive read here on the forum that it can hold water in that compartment? I have a 93 coupe and it didnt come with a plastic bag? I dont think it was an option.

It didn't leave the factory in a plastic bag.
It should have been encased in a molded styrofoam

Look in the front corners of the hatch to see if there are holes drilled there there is a mod to put a drain hose there if done wrong it can fill your trays

Default Radio Receiver

Ok thanks. I will check it out.

I think I will try to set it in a styrofoam block. Do I need to give it plenty of venting?

I replaced my radio and have the original styrofoam block for 94 coupe. I assume it's the same size. Pay shipping and it's yours. Pm your address.
