Default The bad news is I am selling my 84 Z/51....

.... the good news is that I am picking up a 2015 Z/51 Wednesday!
It is black, with black rims, black interior, transparent roof panel, 7speed manual with magnetic selective ride control.
When I turned the Mode Select **** to "Track" and it opened the exhaust baffles -man it sounded great.
This was on the lot and the only thing it has that I probably wouldn't have ordered is the performance data & video recorder?
If I can't get at least $6,000.00 for my 84, I'll just keep it, but I know it will just sit there, so that's why I am going to try an sell it.

Nah, use it as an excuse to mod the 84. Dealer won't give you anywhere near 6k for it.
Get and Keep both. Just make the 84 better than she was.

Hey just wrap the 84 in neon tubes and have it mounted on the garage. Only way a dealer will give 6 is in funny money. Or you could just keep it and still enjoy a ride in it every once in a while. Insurance will be dirt cheap compared to your new one.

Keep your C4, they go great with C7s, in my experience.

Well,

One day the C7 will be yesterday's news too and you will want to sell or trade it as well.

When I first bought my Vette, someone told me "this will be the second happiest day of your life "; "the happiest day will be when you sell it."

Haven't sold it yet after 14 years, so I don't know if that is true or not.

My wife even said we should keep it -but I also have my 79 Z/28 and a CTS Performance Coupe and know I only have so much time to play
I actually sold the 84 outright today for more than 6k and to someone that I think will drive and enjoy it

Awe man, that's like looking forward to your divorce on your wedding day -for some that may be the right thing, but I don't look forward to replacing either

That sounds along the same lines as people that counsel against buying a C4, mostly based on something they read ~30 years ago about a harsh ride.

I think the reality is this:

The C7 was from Avis. Some friends were in town on vacation, and for a few days they rented it because they were thinking of buying one, and wanted to spend some time with one.

Don't ever buy a Vette or Camaro from Avis. They will have been rented by goofballs that stomp on them.

May I ask what the insurance will run on it. That's the one thing that keeps me away from the high dollar cars.

I have full coverage with Progressive. It's only $930 a year. It's the household third car and I am 34 with a clean driving record.

I have a hard time letting things go as well, so I've managed to keep my C4 and C6 when I got the C7. I had two C5's in the middle but never really warmed up to them and was OK selling them. As original owner of the '84 I know they're not going to ever bring big $ so might as well hold on to it with the cheap insurance and no license fees as it is registered as a collector car in MN. (20 year old vehicle, minimum use) Enjoy your C7 and participate on the C7 forum along with posting some pics.
