Wiper blade caught on Hood
I wondered if anyone else had this problem with the C4. On my 94 vette, the driver's side wiper will not come up, as it catches on the lip of the hood.
Do I have the wrong type of wiperblade?
Thanks

You have to use the low profile ones. I bought some new ones from a part store they said they would fit they were wrong!!!!!!

on my 90, I went through several sets from autozone, advanced, etc, and the only ones that fit correctly and cleared the hood, were the OE types - ACDelco 8-2202. purchased through amazon - not the cheapest, but well worth NOT having the aggravation!

that's happened to lots of folks including me. Antfarmer is correct, parts guys look at a book and give you the wrong blade and if you arnt careful, catch on the hood and burn the wiper motor up.

I recently bought some ANCO low profile blades from a local parts store. If you get the "all weather" type blade - that is where you run into trouble with the hood.
In the 13 years that I've owned C4s, I've never had trouble finding the low profile style blades at either WalMart or the local parts stores.
Good luck.

I bought a set of Rain Xs for my 89 in Bowling Green last weekend. The guy just looked up the correct size, which according to him varies with brand, and they worked great, didn't bind on anything. Regular old 20" Rain Xs fit right on it, replacing the VERY expensive Bosch that came off at a most inopportune time. The Bosch never did fit right.

Not to hijack the thread or anything... but my wiper nozzles broke off on the little black ramps for the wipers. I think it happened after I installed a new set of wipers. Could the wipers be too low or something?

A Trico 10-2 or -3 will work as it fits under the hood. I looked at many blades before finding this one for my 94. Bought it at Advance Auto.

If you're hitting with the factory size, you probably need to adjust your wiper arms.
They're designed specifically for the old wiper stud arms, that our C4s have.
The snap clip kind (the J hook style), never fit right, in my opinion.

So I adjusted mine to where they come close to the outer edge of the windshield without touching the trim. Then I went 1" shorter for the half of the blade that wipes in the middle, and that took care of the problem.
I can't even tell a difference in the wiping with it being 1" shorter.

Mine are adjusted as good as they are going to get. And they would still hit every once in a while, or if adjusted too much to compensate the blades would be going off the windshield hitting the trim.

I use either 19" or 18" depending on the blade.
For example, some 20" aftermarket blades are actually longer on the half that wipes in the center from measuring from pin hole to end of blade. And so the 19" ends up being the same length as stock on the half that wipes on the center of the windshield. So on those you have to go with 18" to be an inch shorter on the half that wipes the center of the windshield.
But generally on the half of the blade that wipes the center of the windshield, I try to go an inch shorter than stock. You have to measure from pin hole to end of blade when looking at blades.
On blades that have two holes. You have to make sure you put them in so the "shorter" half is at the center of the windshield.
