Badly neglected vette
Just bought a 1988 coupe, got a good deal $4200 has 130,000 mi. To make a long story short almost a $1000 later in basic repairs now coolant fan quits.Checked everything two relay's have the same 2 dead wires all the way to a 3rd fuel pump relay at firewall,i'm stumped. Should I bypass relay & use a toggle switch?

1st, get a gm manual....you'll be needing it
you can ground the black/green wire to the fan to see if it works...if you have a fan in front of the a/c condenser, you can do the same...if they work, then you'll need a coolant sensor or a relay. You can ground the coolant sensor to see if the fan turns on. Should also come on with the a/c.....

Could you? Yes.
Should you? That's your decision.
Before you install a toggle switch, be sure the fans are working in the first place. By my experience it is rare that they do fail, but it happens.
