Tachometer problem on my 1994
I was wondering if anybody had any idea as to why my tachometer is lazy? I mean it lays on "0" at idle unless I put it in neutral and race the engine a bit. Even then it doesn't seem to put out the proper rpm's to match my engine speed. At 55 mph the tach doesn't go above 1000 rpm's. My car only has a 2:59 rear end so I understand low rpm's but the tach shouldn't lay on "0" when idling. It used to idle at 500 to 600 rpm's at idle. So, do any of you have any ideas as to what's going on

My 1990 started doing the same thing. I replaced the Tach Filter with one I got off flea-bay. It was marked as being for a 1989 but worked fine.
I am not sure about the 1994 vs. 1990, but it appears that the instrument panel assemblies are nearly identical. (hybrid digital/analog as opposed to the the all digital version in the 1989 and prior years).
The tach filter is mounted on the center of the firewall behind the distributor on the L98 models but I don't know about a LT1 with opti-spark.
