Default 84 engine swap to a l98?

Im new here and just got my first corvette a 84 with 74k miles. Found out i has a bad crank from a spun bearing. I just bought a 86 that's in need of some serious repairs but motor is good. Can i put the 86 motor in my 84 and what can i keep on it? I know i will have to switch the intake.

My first corvette 84

Needs some love to the interior

The '86 long block (block, w/rotating assy, heads and valve train) should bolt right into your '84, and your '84 intake should bolt right on to the '86 long block.

Easily solved; Get the '86 flex plate or flywheel.

If you don't like the stiff riding 84, swap out the springs too.

If the build date is 12/85 then the '86 has cast iron heads.

All '86s have a one piece rear main seal.

I would put the whole '86 engine in with the TPI intake. Make sure you use the '86 ECM.

I would be very careful with that plan, depending on future mods. I'd only do the intake swap if keeping everything stock going forward.

That's what I'd do. Keep it simple...no need to create headaches. BTW, Nice '84 brother! Congrats!

You can just swap the 86 motor in and get the harness and computer from the 86 car and install it in the 84 car. Its a simple swap actually.
