A/C blowing into engine instead of inside car

Default A/C blowing into engine instead of inside car

Heat blows into car just fine but a/c blows into engine compartment. If you've experienced this...what was the issue? Thanks

What year and do you have the electronic climate control unit (no cold to heat sliders).

Sorry I forgot to mention that...'88 coupe w/ electronic climate control.

I don't see how the A/C could blow into the engine compartment unless the seals are missing around the freon tubing.

Check the temperature blend door:

Remove the blower control module (this guy):



Set the temperature on the HVAC control panel to 60° and look in the opening of the blower control module. The blend door should be in this position (covering the heater core):



Set the temperature on the HVAC control panel to 90° and look at the temperature blend door. It should be in this position (covering the opening into the HVAC ducts):
