Why does my steering bind and why does my steerimg wheel grind?
Hell everyone,
I have a 1984 Corvette Crossfire, 4+3. However, I went to get the car inspected and I was told the steering had failed. Since it is binding, why is it binding and also my steering wheel sounds like its grinding. Can anyone help me, please?
Thank you.

I would think they are talking about the barrings in the upper and lower part of the column are wore out and need replacing. I'm sure there are write ups how to rebuild. Take note you will need special tools

Do you have the factory service manuals. If not I would suggest buy them

Check your power steering fluid. When was it changed? Not sure what they meant by binding. Old dirty fluid will cause hard steering and a bad pump will also.

Im haveing a brain fart right now and cannot recall at the moment but do you have ujoints coming of the steering shaft? If you do this would be a place to look also. Have also seen bad rack cause binding and also a grinding like noise
