My LT1 leaked from the oil filter adapter. It was a pain to remove old gasket if stuck -- very difficult to scrape gasket due to lack of room but can be done with a lot of patience.

This was very helpful, thank you for the photo and advice. Removing the intake to repair a leak is something that most of us will have to contend with at one point.

Thanks! And yes, most of us will have to do it at some point, but it is doable

Thought I had better add in my 3 yrs of a 95 ownership; in order:
1. Oil filter
2. Oil filter adapter. If it has ever been off the engine, appears that the FelPro gasket is just a bit thinner than OEM and the adapter bolts bottom-out keeping the adapter from making a leak proof seal. I finally ended-up putting some RTV on the bolts and stopped the oil drips.
3. Timing cover seals. Usually the water pump seal goes first, followed by the OptiSpark seal. Never had a problem with the crankshaft seal leaking.
4. Valve covers
5. Intake manifold
6. Oil pressure sender or switch. A Royal PITA to get to.
7. Oil level sensor
8. Oil pan gasket
9. Rear main seal

I did not have a problem with all these areas, just the ones that come to mind that I checked when trying to find the oil leak I had. Which turned-out to be the oil pan gasket replacement error I made....but that is another story.

Or, it could be something as simple as the oil drain
plug gasket has been reused the last few changes and is no longer sealing well.

sorry to try and revive an old thread, but i was curious where to find the gasket set for the 95 lt1. it sounds like i need the front and back gasket segments but all im finding are the sides with the runners and not the front/back. thanks

No gaskets for the front and rear referred to as the China wall. You just use black RTV. The Felpro set comes with a black tube of it.

In summation, everything under the hood on an LT1.
