Default How do you install one of these???

I have a 95 coupe and my floor matts always run up under the gas pedal, so I ordered new floor matts with a hole and a grommet from mid america and one of these.

No instructions and I am not sure how to install. It looks like I need to cut a little slit in my existing carpet and fit it in there. Any help would be appreciated.

You have to do "surgery" on the carpet. Easy DIY

Two little slits. Spray some adhesive on the carpet to keep it from running.

My 1995 base coupe has slits in the driver's side carpet, they look original/factory. The fastener was gone so I fabbed one from a thin strip of stainless steel to hold the floor mat in place. My fabbed piece probably puts too much pressure on the edge of the slit - that fastener in your picture has teeth to actually grip the carpet directly, not just the edge of the slit. I should look into getting one.

All right thanks for the info pretty much what I figured I needed to do. When I get the floor matts I will go ahead and install and post a few pics. Of course they said everything was in stock and after this showed up and not the carpet pads I called them only to find out the pads are 3-4 weeks out.

Just in case. Have factory ones on our Honda and the "pointed side" should face the seat or rear of the car.
