Will a 92 ragtop fit a 94?
Hey all,
Curious if a 92 top would fit a 94? I came across a great deal on a top that the original owner swapped it out for a different color back in 92 and has kept it in storage since then.
From what I understand the originals are canvas and not vinyl? Should be a better fit than a repo?
Thanks

I don't know if it will fit or not but something to watch is whether the material has weakened in storage. Had some awnings that came with the house and had been folded up for years. Tried using them and shortly they split on every spot where it was folded.

The 92 fabric top should physically fit on the 94. You just won't have the glass top and the defogger. I agree that long term storage may have created wrinkles that may never come out. There could also be some cracking in the vinyl window.
C4 convertible top material was fabric except for the white tops. Those were vinyl. IIRC, the material change for the white top was to make cleaning easier. White fabric would have been a real pain to keep clean.
I would recommend going with a new top rather than one that is 23 years old and boxed up for most of that time. Do some searching and you may find that a new top is a much better deal.

I believe I'd avoid the '92 top regardless of cost. A top is an install that's somewhat unique to the vehicle. Even a professional installer might suggest the same I'd think and maybe not even quote a price for an install of the top on another frame. I don't see any potential savings or benefits in the buy. NONE!
