taking a look at a 95 today. any tips?
later this afternoon i am looking at a red 95 coupe for 7k with 139000 miles on her. ad says excellent condition inside and out. pics look nice and it looks like it has been taken care of. didn't talk to the guy too much. won't really know if it is just a base model coupe or something a bit better til i see it.
i have been through quite a bit of info on what to look for regarding a c4 but i figured i would also just ask if there are any other easy obvious things to look for or notice that would raise red flags.
since the car is old enough to have gone through katrina that is my biggest concern on its whereabouts during the storm.
as long as this one seems legit i think this might finally be the one.

yeah i am not expecting a miracle or anything but if it's well cared for and if guy has all his ducks in a row about the car then there might be a deal to be made. threw it in kbb and it showed up as 68xx so it's priced fairly right if it truly is excellent condition. it's worth taking a look at in the end.
honestly if i can get it for about 6 i won't mind putting a couple grand into it if i have to. it's just going to be a fun car for me to love and baby.
though there is this yellow project vette that keeps staring me down. first saw it right by the cemetary where i buried my grandpa last august. i just moved down to bama and went to visit his grave (hadn't seen the head stone yet) and the vette is sitting in the same spot. front window is smashed but the paint and everything isn't that bad looking. looks like a 90's. tempted to go vin it and knock on the door and offer to haul it off. really painful to see cool cars that should probably live again.

Remember the paint jobs (decent) are very expensive. Probably the seats are worn and need replacing unless PO replaced already plus weatherstripping in these cars are terrible for some reason.

When I check out C4s. drive it and listen for things in engine. Feel how brakes feel and how it drives. Getting as much info as possible is good. But looking at the engine is good too (although I'm a novice. I usually take pics). I this the other thing is look at the glass top if its in good shape- expensive to replace. Look at the rubber seals- 20 year old car they can get worn. I think one thing is when u drive a few toucan get a sense for differences and what to expect.
Example I'llgive: drove an 86 at beginning of summer but it had c6 tires and upgraded brakes. And honestly it rode and stopped great! Probably the best brakes I've ever felt!

Yeah if the paint needs work that will be a deal breaker for sure. I'll be extra vigilant about the weather stripping and the top. I'll have someone to go with me this time. That'll be helpful. Well should be looking at it in a couple hours.

Well talked the dude down to under 6 on it and he took it. Title is in his safe deposit. Picking her up tomorrow morning. Was in nice shape. Drove excellent. Needs a bit of work. Not too much. Dude bought it for his wife but she doesn't really like getting in and out of it. Yay!!! I'm a vette owner and the exact one I was looking for.
