How can I ID front springs
How can I ID front leaf springs on an 86. I think it's a series of three letters but what do they indicate? I've been told there were three different front springs for years 84 through 87. base, soft and z51.

I believe that all '86 springs were 'tattooed' on the underside and in characters 3/8" tall would be a 3 letter code about 2 - 3 inches inboard from the spring pad on the control arm. It could be either side but on a lift it should be obvious.
If an '86 maybe had a label like the '84 Corvette then it would likely be visible without raising the car a couple of inches from the spring pad on the top.
Don't worry about any of the published codes or charts until you actually ID yours with 'the eye'.
