Is it lined up with the arrow on the column, where you insert the key? If auto, is trans in Park?

When I got my 88 I was having trouble with the same thing and it turns out if I put the car into reverse the key comes right out (it's a 4+3 car). My 92 6 speed however is not that way at all for whatever reason....

Now that it's out check to See if it's bent.

No Problemo! Glad it worked!

Not sure why my 92 isn't like that, butt he 88 definitely won't easily release the key unless the car is in reverse. instead of putting the car in 1st I put it in Reverse when I park it now! Easy Fix! ha ha.

If your '92 has a correct cylinder in it you have a button to "depress" to move the key for easy release.
