Wiper blade getting caught under my hood
95 lt1 auto
So this is annoying. I've only used my wipers a couple times while driving so I didn't notice this before. Only had the car about three weeks
Filled up on washer fluid today and as always I try the wipers to make sure fluid comes out and the left arm is getting caught under my hood when it first engages and when it comes to resting position. There's a chip I got to take care of now where it's occurring.
Do I need to adjust the arm or get a new set of blades. If I need a new set what should I use so this won't happen again. It has duralast wipers on it now.

Okay I thought so. Guy I bought it from bought it for his wife (who didn't like driving it after driving an 18 Wheeler all day) and he said she just replaced the wipers a couple months prior to me buying it.

Ant farmer is right on. Cant believe the guy doesn't like it after driving the semi. I am a semi driver and just love the feel of my vette. Change your blades, replacement wiper motors aint cheap and that WILL burn one up. Maybe even the number one reason.

Yeah i am going to get a new set tomorrow while I'm out getting a couple extra keys made and some touch up paint to get rid of some scratches.
The seller's wife is the truck driver and hated it. Mostly getting in and out of it. The seller did like it but he had three other cars and just didn't drive it enough to justify keeping it.

For a '95 I would suggest a set of the original GM blades for a purchase and then you can buy refills in the future. '95 & '96 blades are selective left or right.
DO NOT BUY THE ACD blades you might be offered.
Try to purchase these part numbers, 22155368 RIGHT and 22154985 LEFT
There may very well be an ACD that fits but I wouldn't try without comparing to those OE numbers I mentioned.
'94 and earlier are different. '95+ arms and blades are ideal for any '94 and earlier car.

Oh cool thanks for the part numbers. This just dawned on me again. I have a Corvette specialty shop right by me and I've needed an excuse to go. I'll go there and they should have them. I didn't even notice for the first week I had the car that the keychain was from this shop. I keep forgetting about it.

The blades are likely a special order at a dealer but it's certainly what I'd do. If you've a relationship with a dealer you should be all set.

Unless I was looking at a really old thread I saw where someone went to the dealer and they were like 12 bucks for a couple new keys made. Why I was going to head there. I'll look again then to make sure.

Worth a try if they ask you to grab your ankles have them test your key for value and buy off ebay.

84?
Great post and great info.
Total hijack question.... What would be the right part numbers for an 84 Croasfire!!!? I too have wiper arms that just kiss the hood upon activation..... And theyre really sloooooowwww

Your blade appears to be a "multi-fit" and looks to have the larger diameter latch incorporated into the design. Will they work with the different geometry of the '95+ arm? I've no idea. Will they drag on the hood? Again, no idea but possibly.

Just posting a little follow up for anyone who may be reading this later.
For my 1984 C4 the AC Delco 8-2202 wipers work great. They have the smaller 1/4" arm hole as the above picture. They were less than $20/set shipped from Rock Auto.

On The Ghost-1996 is not the wiper blades, it's the arm, and the windshield bump. I have removed the blade, and the arm by itself still higher than the hood. It doesnt go all the way in, and you get to live with it.
Will take pictures of the whole thing later on.

Melting Slicks
AC delco makes the original style that came on our cars.
I have to get mine through amazon.com Part # 8-2202s
No problems fitting the stud OR clearing the windshield.
