You can buy the gear and puck kit from ebay for about $15 a side my 94 just needed the pucks can get them for about $6 for both sides. Look on you tube for the vidieo to see how.

The bushings are gone for sure! You can buy them separate or as a package with the gear. Replacing them is not hard. Watch this video on replacing them. It will show you the three bushings and the gear. If the bushing are gone and the gear is good. Just replace the bushings. If the gear is bad, then I suggest replacing it with a nylon gear instead of the bronze. If the metal gear binds or locks for some reason you will destroy the $300-$400 motor. I would rather replace the gear than the motor. The motor may even cost you more over there!

Here is the video....

I just replaced the pucks and gears in my 1994 C4 last week. I bought the kit on Ebay for $36.25 delivered. The kit included 2 gears and 6 pucks to rebuild both motors.

One thing I ran into that I had not seen in any video or read on any thread is replacement gaskets. Both of my headlight motors had been opened up before by a previous owner and both gaskets were torn and missing sections of gasket. I had my headlights out and motors removed before I noticed this. My local auto parts stores and chevy dealer did not have the gaskets in stock so I was stuck with two choises, stop where I was and wait for the local auto parts store to get the gaskets in which would be a few days or use RTV and finish the project. I chose the RTV even though I hate that stuff.

With your location unless you have some purchase arrangements through a contact in the US I'd probably assume that the gear isn't required and do the bushings/pellets/pucks or whatever you care to call them locally. Delrin round stock should be readily available. I don't recall the dimensions but I'd certainly consider this.

I believe that many will confirm they actually didn't need the gear, I've only needed to do one motor and it certainly didn't need a gear. If the majority post back and mention the gear was/is required then maybe it's a "game changer".

If you've familiarized yourself with the required procedure it's certainly something to consider.

If someone actually has a kit from a reputable reseller perhaps they'll offer up the dimensions.

The loose coins in your pocket should likely buy the Delrin locally.

Here are some dimensions mentioned by a "very reliable" user here on the CF:

I bought mine (gear and bushings) from Corvette Central.

http://www.parts123.com/corvettecent...50f&ukey=17316

I replaced the driver's side on Sunday. Here is the old gear and bushings...well the three round bushings are now FLAKES....

It is amazing that the headlight even opened and closed. From start of lifting the hood to bolting the light back in and turning it on to test it took 42 minutes. There was a little extra time since the nuts on the lights were corroded a little and brushed them off and painted them black. The gasket on the gear was also missing a 3/8" section, so I used silicone on the gasket and the missing section to seal it off.

Just to be sure there is no misunderstanding, you probably don't need the gears. Please read #7 from WVZR-1.

The gears are expensive, but the delrin "pellets" or "bushings" are cheap! If they are available in Italy, look for part number 74410 in the HELP section of your favorite auto parts store. If you can't find them, I'll mail a set to you. Send me a PM (Personal Message).

Like the others have said you probably don't need the gear. I did mine a month ago and the pellets were dust but the gear was fine. I had the same symptoms as you.

Hi all

i have checked under under the hood and looking the pellets i have not seen any defect but when the headlight is arrived at the top stop down or up if try to turn the left electric motor with the hand you can hear tic tic tic like to jump a sprocket instead of the right headlight when arrive at top stop down or up the electric motor don't turn with the hand.
So i think the problem come from the internal plastic gear. Hope to have explained well with my english.
Thanks again and i'll update you with the reparation.
Have a good W.E. all

You need to understand that the more you disassemble, the more likely you could damage maybe the motor. If you didn't want to source 'local' product and all the parts are from the same vendor it likely shouldn't effect the shipping so maybe buy.

That is what I bought. The kit worked fine even though the gear I received was black instead of white. I replaced the factory gear since I had a new gear in the kit. You might want to look into getting new gaskets as well. Mine were broken and missing pieces of the gasket thanks to a previous owner that didn't care enough to replace them when he took the motor apart.
