zr1 prices still going lower
just saw on barrette Jackson where a 15 mile odometer zr1 went for under 20k. Seems like the standard c4s are creaping up, the GS models are going up fast and the zr1 still is tanking.

Barrett Jackson, while entertaining, has little to do with actual prices. Specific cars can vary immensely due to many factors, not the least is alcohol content of the bidders. If anything, ZR-1 prices are a reflection of C4 prices, not the other way around.

I would have to agree with my fellow ZR-1 owner. The price reflected here is the exact opposite of the prices of auction ZR-1s of just a few months ago. I don't have the numbers in front of me but the prices being paid were more than the average prices being paid in the real world.

C1: The most powerful versions of C1s sell for the most money (except the 53 which is a unique car)
C2: The most powerful versions of C2s sell for the most money
C3: The most powerful versions of C3s sell for the most money
C5: The most powerful versions of C5s sell for the most money
C6: The most powerful versions of C6s sell for the most money
C7: The most powerful versions of C7s sell for the most money
And your saying that the C4 buyers will buck this trend for a paint and trim special?
If you are saying that ZR-1 parts pricing is driving this, please explain why a wing nut for a 67 435 costs over $100 and yet 435s, L89s, & L88 are among the most expensive Corvettes out there.

Well said
Sub 20k for a nothing mile Z is a steal nows the time if you got the cash.Might take 5k to get it "right" but still worth it
Like the 69 Z/28 L88 etc those will become untouchable one day (and awful hard to clone)

im not saying I agree with it. Im just saying what I saw. Why anyone would take this as a personal insult against there choice of cars is beyond me. I too think that some day these cars well be respected but now is not that day.

Its a reality tv show.
Do you thnk the other reality tv shows dont stretch the truth (or outright lie) to make the show more exciting???
Everyone is ******* c4s now so thats whats cool to do. Just look at our own website.
So i imagine thats what image they are catering too.
The show becomes exciting if some cars go for a million plus and another beautiful car goes for cheap

ZR1s are only distinguishable when then hood is up, so to the rest it is just another C4. Real value is in the eyes of the beholder.
My idea of a LSR car is a ZR chassis with a LS7 on the bottle.

IMHO The costs of tweeking an LT5 are just too expensive.
Having reliably available off the shelf parts makes the LSx motors much more desirable and resellable.
I've watched the ZR1 LSR Salt car here on the CF try to break through the speed/power barriers with ALOT of research time and MONEY invested.
I'd rather work with proven race parts and tuners to make a C4 fly.

All C4s are a loosing cause in the collector market. Only a few have gone outside the box to become truely valuable like the Callaways.

If anything, I've seen ZR-1s maintain their value better than the Callaways. That is car that is almost indistinguashable even with the hood up - and the engines are far less durable.
As far as looks are concerned, if sharing the look is so bad, why does a 67 L88 command so much more than a 67 L36?

I have a different opinion ....People have these 'Dreams' about wide body corvettes. I cant tell the difference.
The only thing i notice is the zr1 badge and high mounted brake light
Put the hood up and its a different story

The ZR-1 body looks quite different than the base Corvette. Seen from the rear, the base C4 has a somewhat squeezed look to it, like something isn't right. Novices might tell the difference with the extra gap in the rear license plate hole. Some might spot the extra shelf room on top the rear fenders. Most would only notice if there was a transparent hood, like C6 ZR1. That way the owners don't have to always open the hood.

Speaking of butts....
The differences are subtle only to the casual observer-
And then there's these....
Auction item sale prices are by nature "all over the place", - bargains, after all, is the lure of auctions in the first place! It would be "going out on a limb" (statistically speaking) to try to establish a "norm", based on a single auction sale price.

the 37 mile charcoal metallic sold for under $40k?
That's one of the best deals I've seen!!!! RARE color and MSO car
The $32k for the other 1990 is a STRONG price for a 23k mile car.
