Default Battery

Hi
I own a 1984 corvette. What is a good battery for it. My battery is not very good. You have the interior lights on for 5 to 10 minutes the car will not start. It dies very quick
thanks

A group 75 battery of your choice purchased locally from someone that sells lots of batteries and rotates their stock. Check the date code of whatever brand that it is that you choose.

Climate and how frequently the car gets used might be considered and I'd suggest a battery TENDER.

It's just the physical size of the battery. Go to your fav. parts store and they will tell you what's available. I always opt for the highest CCA (cold cranking amps) battery available as it will provide more reserve power but will cost a little more. You can also check Walmart for pricing. Not much to it.

What would you recommend for CCA

GOOGLE will give you likely all of the education regarding batteries that you could need. GROUP 75 search should get you going. A GROUP 75 is dimensionally correct for the C4 and has the proper side terminal connections.

It's generally assumed that you would want to avoid any dual/terminal batteries. DUAL meaning both side and top terminals.

The car calls for around 550 CCA's I believe so that's the minimum you'd want to go with. You can probably get up to 700 CCA's with the same size (group 75) battery. As mentioned, I always go with the highest CCA's available for the group but these cost a little more. In the end, it's up to you and how much you want to spend.

Just go to Advance Auto and pick one up. They're made by Johnson Controls who has about 1/3 of the world market. They're OEM for Ford, Toyota, and several other car manufacturers. There's only a few battery manufacturers in the world.

To start, have a load test done on the battery and have the alternator checked for proper output. Chances are the battery is toast but it can't hurt to do testing.

Interstate is a very good battery brand. Some people like the Sears DieHard Gold batteries. Both are made by Johnson Controls. They tend to be higher priced than Waly World batteries or from the chain parts stores, but IMHO, they are much better quality.

If you are a Costco member..... check their inventory.
They don't always carry a complete inventory, but their prices are usually the lowest. The Costco batts will show a Costco label, but they are made by Johnson Controls (the same as DieHard, etc., with the same warranty).

I just had remote starter and doors installed and during the install all died

Sounds to me like you have other electrical issues that are causing the battery to drain.
In that case it doesn't matter how good a battery you put in, as it won't last long either.
