Thanks. He is getting excited about the car. This is the next problem. I did search but didn't find anything.

Is your headlight switch on on your dash? sounds like the motors running because the gear in it is spinning, but I might be wrong.

Maybe your headlight motor gears are stripped. Here's a link to Zip Corvette's article on how to disassemble the motor and make the repair and upgrade.
Maybe you can disassemble and see if it is the gears first.

Yeah the light switch is on the dash. Yeah I agree the gears are slipping. But after inspection I think the gears look ok. I have some new gears. I can stick in. I am picturing gears that have no teeth left. Maybe that's part of the problem?

I just want to say thanks for the good information on this site. I had an idle problem and I adjusted the throttle position sensor and the car calmed down.

Still have not got the headlight problem resolved. Sometimes you have to walk away before the solution presents itself.

Many times I have walked away for a while from a project when I had a problem. A breather always seemed to let me calm down and look at from a fresh perspective. Sometimes it's a short breather and sometimes much, much longer. Last fall I was doing a few upgrades and changes to a motorcycle I owned. One involved a seat upgrade and I got pretty aggravated with it after trying to figure it out for a few days. I walked away and last week, out of the blue, I decided to work on it. Within an hour I came up with a different way of solving the problem I had and doing it. Since a warm front is coming through this week, I'll probably finish it tomorrow or the next day. If I hadn't taken the time away, I probably would have taken a sawzall to the seat and wrecked it.

The car is back together. Still fighting with the headlight motor. But I went on a 50 mile drive and no problems.

I did start working on the passenger side door panel. More cracked plastic than I thought. I will pick up a few parts for it but I think I can get it.

if the plastic isnt bisible and you need to suture it back together, you can always plastic weld it with a simple soldering pen.

have a look on youtube, i do it all the time to repair everything from motorcycle ferrings to luggage to my washing machines plastic control panel.

I got sidetracked and started messing with a new (old) hood. I plan on making a cowl induction hood. I'm thinking about 1 inch lift. Nothing crazy. If I mess it up I'm only out 50 bucks.

I'm about ready to resin the corner back to the hood. Then hood scoop time.

I had my smog pump bearings making noise. I installed a delete kit in it. I just have to get the right belt. Should be running again this week.

Completed the smog pump delete. While I was in there I fixed the IAC. The lower bolt was broke off, so tap and drill and it's happy again.

It's been awhile since my last post. I finally got my truck painted. I'm using that as practice for the corvette. I did get a new complete headlight assembly. It turns out that it's still doing the same thing . So I'm thinking the relay. .

I was having some problems with the car running and it threw a code 43. I Checked the timing and it was way retarded. I adjusted it to 8 degrees advanced and wow what a change.

What should the timing be on an 85? Does advancing the timing say by 2 degrees make any noticeable difference?

hi. looking good.

timing is 6 deg btdc. but my 85 is at 9deg btdc and it increases the exhaust odour a bit, but also bumps the seat of the pants of o'meter.

also, i see you have uninstalled the smog pump. i am looking to buy the black brace piece that goes from the back of the smog pump to the intake manifold.

are you still using it and would u will be willing to part with it if not. thnx.
