I drove 8 miles to the store at the end of the street this morning.

Got some wide open 3 lane local expressways with absolutely nobody on it due to the holiday plus an LT5 plus some cool air... why would I drive the .1 miles it should have taken?

Sometimes I just jump in (more like crawl in) and take off with nowhere in mind to go.

there are times I definitely go out of my way to hit certain roads. I do it more on my motorcycle then in the corvette though. I did take a 90 mile trip the other day in it though with my dad which was nice. It was either the corvette or a more civilized Camry hybrid lol.

Unless I have to be somewhere by a certain time, I always take the long way when I'm in the Vette.

The long way home is the only way home in the vette. Plus, the effort to get in and out, you might as well go the long way lol.

I went to the next city over from me once which is 23 miles one way. I ended up clocking up 235 miles that day.

So yeah Ive taken the "long" way home a few times

That biggest problem for me is my driveway. Its such a chore to get back up the driveway and the car is so fun to drive I give in pretty easy to cruising more than I should.

The little woman always sais how can you go for a drive and not know where you are going..

I just say well its either North, South, East or West, I just go where the road takes me.

The simple explanation is it doesn't matter, it clears your head of all the stresses of work to go for a nice drive on the weekend.

Or the long way home from somewhere, that happens all too often. She always falls asleep in the car so she doesn't know.

I try to but now the snow gets in the way. Lol. I thoroughly enjoy driving this car. I was a mustang fan prior to this Vette but not anymore.

First rule, when given an option,ALWAYS take the most scenic and longest route home. We call it the Gypsy tour. The most fun is when you have no particular place to go. " A truly happy man is the man who can enjoy the detour"

I am retired and go to a lot of cruise-ins and car shows. I always take the long way to get to them especially if it involves the back roads of Kentucky.

If the long way is likely to be a pleasant drive, yes.
