A lot harder with hood on mate
I found it easier to put top on first and drop it down from there
Allows the top to go over the top rail with out moving the top lip to far
Very easy to damage the paint

Would you know where the thin metal strip goes behind the bumper or under it. Getting conflicting info.

It goes on the out side
The bolts go thru that then bar and then into the threaded strip

Yeah the front bumper is no picnic. I put mine on at a 45 degree angle with the nose pointing down. Then carefully slid it up and over the metal support. If you can warm it up first it makes everything more pliable and less chance of cracking your paint. My hood was on when I did it.

Was the hood up or down? Thank you.
