Default slotted rotors

i was thinking of but slotted and drilled rotors for my 1992 vette
anybody used them

I'm currently shopping around. Since I put the 5 spoke wheels on, I need something that looks as good as it stops.

The Last Detail had a nice set on ebay.

I'm going to try GT rotors, the ones listed in Mid America since GT Rotors is right around the corner from me, maybe I can get a Mr Mojo-UPS discount.

While the slotted and drilled rotors look way cool I understand theres a problem with the slotted portion of it. From what Ive heard the edges of the slots in the rotors act like razor blades slicing pieces off of your brake pads every stop. The edges of the drilled holes are supposedly chamfered to prevent this. Might wanna research this for yourself first dood....

I have been using the Baer Eradispeed+ rotors for a couple of months now. So far I am happy with them. Better stability at higher speeds and way better looks.

I have heard more positive remarks about slotted over the cross drilled. I do track the slotted rotors on Ebay. There is someone selling a new SET of slotted rotors for $129.00. It is worth looking into since the price of slotted rotors in the magazines are very exspensive. Good luck. If you find them cheaper please let me know and also let everybody on here know. :D

Baer is the only brand making good slotted drilled rotors. Most drilled rotors are prone to cracking. Even baer won't cover you on a cracked rotor due to drilling. Slotted adds a slight performance upgrade but unless you are rally racing you won't feel it and appearance wise it doesn't look much better. I'd get a set from baer or just skip it.

I did quite a bit of brake research awhile back when I was looking for an upgrade on the Camaro. It turns out the cross-drilled rotors use to have some affect on realieveing gas that was created by pads when they get hot. What would happen is that the pad would "float" on the payer of gas not allowing for direct contact, but due to better brake pads on the market that don't produce a gas cross drilling is more for pure looks now. Slotting is good for clearing away dust that is resting on the pads, but it will wear your pads very bad.
Really the diamiter of the rotor and the thickness is what you want to looks for, a ticker rotor will dissapate the heat better and alow for less brake fade. My .02 :cheers:

I Just got a set from Mid Am, and the GT rotors are Dimpled. First time I've seen these. So they'll pocket some of the brake pad gases, but don't have complete venting like a drilled rotor. On the other hand, they aren't as suseptable to cracking as drilled because you still have solid metal. Haven't put them on yet, but hope to this weekend.

I am using "Power Slots" all fours on mine. I have had them on for 3 years now and not one problem with them. Much beefer then the stock ones.

I have a set on my Firebird. I just put some on my Vette
These rotors were $95 each (Durostops). Doesn't include all other hardware.

Havn't had any problems with them. But can't tell if they help in braking but they look cool :cool: :D
