Help! I need advice.
I'm interested in buying this car. Thoughts? Anything I should watch out for before buying. Is that a good deal? 140,000 miles and he wants $5000.

I am instantly suspicious of new paint and high mileage but 5k is cheap if everything actually works properly.

Who did the paint? If it is Maaco, I'd budget another paint job.

op, if u know how to do a compression test on the fly and its got clean fluids and the gearbox is smotth, thats a no brainer. for that acquisition price u can daily drive it and not care about adding mileage.
good find

If Carfax is good then go to this section and post a request for someone to inspect it for you or to go with you to look it over. Make sure they are familiar with the LT1 C4.

the Mileage is not the end of the world. it is c4 prime season. 5K is slightly high for a 140K C4 as a good average. sure you will find many up to 10k. you can find just as many up to 95's for 4.5k - 6.5K not many at this point. here is a sample.

You really need to see some interior pictures. Paint looks a little dull but I'm sure the Texas sun can wreak havoc on a car's finish.
If the interior is in excellent condition I might think 5k is an ok prices.
My first thoughts are 3.5-4k

$5k seems ok to me, especially since it is a 6-spd. I would check the carfax, but if it has lived its life in Floydada, you probably don't have to worry about water damage....unless it somehow sunk down into the ogallala aquifer. Drive it and make sure it shifts well and that there are no unexpected noises coming from the transmission. Also, check for little things, like oil leaks and rotted/cracked bushings. I paid the same for my 95 6-spd, but didn't check for the little things. About $5k and countless hours later, I'm still replacing the little things.

Looks like a pretty good deal to me, but then again I don't know what vette's go for all the way down the coast! Is this the only car you'll settle for or do you mind waiting? Doesn't hurt to take your time and look around!

Thanks guys for helping me. So it's not supposed to have a tune port? So the motor has probably been replaced. Hmmmm yea I was hoping this could be my daily driver. No floods here.. We are in the pan handle of Texas. I think 5k is a lot myself. I'm gonna test drive it this Thursday possibly.

Some very good advice has been given. Ask if it comes with the orginial wheels also. That might get you back a couple of hundred bucks you can spend on something it needs..tunes? Have fun, keep the wave.

Frankly, for a 6 speed LT1 car I think it's cheap. I'd go buy it ASAP, because at that price it won't last long. 6 speed cars are hard to find and command a significant premium. Before I bought mine the cheapest 6 speed around me was 6k and was a rat's nest of problems.

I paid $4500 for my 92 with 130,000 on the clock. no real problems and was and still is a daily driver. Just go test drive it and try everything to see what works and what doesn't, make sure you know. Test the tranny in all gears, put it unload load check for slippage. Look at all the fluids you can,and the hoses. Some things that are easy fixes, you should still buy it, but you can use them when discussing the final price. Look at the tires for dryrot. Look underneath the best you can for oil leaks or damage from being bottomed out.

Tire condition is certainly a must check BUT rather than just a visual check the "date codes" for sure, regardless of the visual the date codes.
The car has after-market wheels of some sort and maybe tire size confirmations need checked. A '92 would be 275/40-17 X 4 so what's really there. I don't recognize the wheels so maybe you check behind the wheel looking for a spacer.
Maybe someone recognizes the wheels and will post.
