I have a 92 C4 and I love it. It has been down awhile now over the optispark. Soon it will be fixed. It is funny though that if I take out my 74, 80 or 01 vert other Vette owners wave, but only other C4s wave at the C4, and another observation C7s don't wave at anybody. LOL

Melting Slicks
The C7 owners are too busy learning all the gizmos, gadgets and technical wizardry. Or maybe they have enough trouble wrangling all that power (Z06) and keeping all 4 wheels on the road, they don't need to be taking a hand off the wheel or looking anywhere else.

I find its 50/50 at best with waves in my c4. Doesnt really matter which gen. A lot of times its about opportunity/visibility.
It doesnt even cross my mind to wave at c7s. Im either staring at their car mindlessly or I dont expect them to wave anyway.

Enough of the C4 bashing.
When it came out it was a beautiful, refined successor to the cartoonish C3. C3's were associated with gold chains and Members Only jackets. What a relief to get the C4.
Point 2: the SCCA had to create a series solely for the C4 since they annihilated the Showroom Stock division. Not too shabby for any car.
Point 3: Every succeeding Corvette generation has improved upon the one before it. C5s & C6s are better cars, hands down. That doesn't make a C4 a bad car. And it's certainly better than a C3, which rides like a truck by the way.
Point 4 is shared by every Corvette ever made: They're still screaming bargains in any iteration.

Re: the C7 owners, they're not all that way, I got a huge wave from a guy in a new Z06 today. Then a little later I got a "Nice Car" from two different people within five minutes of each other. Actually I get nice car comments all the time and more often than not it's from the younger set.

Wasn't even dissing the C4. I like all Corvettes. Some just get more smack talk then others. I like the C3's simply because they were new when I started noticing cars and girls. When I'm done (Ha!) with the 81, I'd like to get a 96.

So true! If you leave it in a parking lot, just say a restaurant, how many times in an hour do you get up and look out at your Corvette to make sure it's "OK"? Probably 3-4 times for me! Dam proud of my baby!

Every car design has its issues (optispark, headlight door bushings, chassis flex with the targa off, to name a few). But the worst thing about the C5 is they're so freakin' ugly.

Well I bought mine as an inexpensive way back into Corvette ownership. Though it's an early C4, it was still in "almost new" condition for under 10 K. Plus I was feeling a bit nostalgic. It gets a lot of compliments and I'm having fun so far.

anyone that thinks a C5 is a better car, has never owned or maintained one
from the wobbling pressed on keyless harmonic balancer wobbling off at 12000 miles,
to the "locks while" you're driving steering column, the DIC that nevers stops reminding you that your steering column is locked,
and the "fuel level is low" when you pull out of a gas station
or my personal favorite thing about the "better" corvette dropping the transaxle (2002.5 and later) to replace the multiple fuel pumps, and or hoses that GM built to fail
and don't forget to service the swell active handeling and or that pesky traction control malfunction
yea C5's are fast and they look and handle bitchen
$hame they were built with your wallet, and the bill you'll get from the dealer
"when the light comes on" or in this case when the DIC comes on you
So get you one, and see for yourself
but please don't tell me it's a better car, because it's certainly not

Go take a step into the Off Topic section.Troll section with strong dislike borderline hate for our C4 platform. Can be entertaining. I personally have experienced only compliments and respect for my 95 from real people and true car enthusiasts

My five top reasons why I think the C4 is a cool vette :
1. You can afford to get the one you want and not have to mortgage off your first born to do it.
2. You hardly see them out being driven anymore which makes you appreciate the C4 even more now.
3. You have tons of option choices when it comes to the C4 since it was built for so many years.
4. The C4 makes you feel like you are part of the car.
5. No other vette has a clam shell hood.
