Ever Replace Ball Joint Boots??
Anybody ever replace Ball Joint Boots before on their C4?
Do it yourself? Have it professionally done? Sell the car??

, however, if you're going through the trouble of replacing the ball joints, might as well go the extra mile, and do a front end rebuild. I know it easy to get into the "while i'm at it" mode, but IMO, you'll be happy you did....

Based on the little I know of you I suspect red ball joint boots are in your car's future! I say go for it and have the fun of doing it yourself. One of the many projects in my cars future is poly bushings and at that point I'll likely change the ball joints since I'm in there anyway. Good luck with it.

The car only has 17k on the clock and all front end parts are tight. So, I can't see replacing all the joints themselves when they don't need replacing.

You do know me Yes, red boots are in my plans. I have one that has an ever so small crack in it. So, I figured change them all to Red. Would help dress the car up and it's inexpensive.

You have the chance dirt has gotten into the ball joint through the crack in the cover. If it was me and I was just changing the covers, I'd first pump in the grease into the ball joint to try and force any dirt out of where it shouldn't be. Remove the old cover and wipe off all the old grease I could then replace the cover and regrease it.

Cleaned everything up today. No cracks in dust cover boots. Just a mess of grease from previous owner. Now the ball joint areas look good and I feel better.

If the ball joints need to be replaced, inspect all suspension components. There is a slight possibility pit arms, bushings, or bearing may need servicing.
If you sell the car point this thread to the buyer, this way we dont get a duplicate.

I won't be selling this car anytime soon. 18k on the clock and the car is as solid as one would want. It's been attracting lots of attention at meets.
