RH Sun Visor Mirror Repair?
So the RH visor on my 85 looks like a dog ear, the end is bent over like a labrador's ear. The visor is in good shape otherwise, not discoloration, rips or stains and the mirror is good, still lights up. I was thinking of just inserting a new piece of cardboard to keep the visor from drooping. So, how hard is it to remove the vanity mirror from the visor without destroying the thing? Anyone ever done it?

The back of your mirror has some plastic protrusions with "fish hook" shaped rings on the protrusions. These press into the high-density cardboard core of the sun visor. They are not intended to be removable, so the cardboard core will be damaged if you pull the mirror out of the core. Plan on using some adhesive to put it back together.

I know what your talking about. This what I did, I took window blind blade, cut it down and slipped into sun visor from light assy. It also makes it spring loaded looks great, and will last for years.

I'm all for repair and restoration, but its really just worth buying another one IMO for the time and money.

Black medium (or large) size paper binder clip like this -

Center and slide clip over crease where ear flops over. Remove silver arms. Cheap; takes about ten seconds; and is nearly invisible. Has lasted four years on mine.

I recently re-upholstered a set of C4 visors with mirrors. First thing is to remove the visor or visors from the car. The procedure can be found by probably searching the C4 forum or in a service or repair manual. The easiest way to remove the mirror from the visor is to cut the stitching around the visor by untucking the fabric starting from the ends. The visor will open like a clamshell. You can push the pointed rubber points back through the fiber board. You might have to push the rubber into the hole around the edges where it meets the fiber board. The mirror will come off if you want it to. Once the visor stitching is cut you might just be able to repair the cardboard as recommended without removing the mirror from the fiber board and have it sewn back together by an upholsterer for about $10-$15 or free if they are so inclined. Or if you want to do a complete rebuild then you can do it similar to the way I've documented the visor rebuild on a C5. The steps are similar but the C4 visor is much easier to do since the mirror is easier to remove and re-install compared to a C5. Here's a link to the thread.

Burning Brakes
that is what I did. Removed the visor, brought it to a tailor, he cut the flop off, then restitched it. Looks great!! I wasn't even going to put them back on, but they came out so nice, I did.
