HI Ghostrider...
...by now they've probably gotten you out of bed and sitting up in a chair. (I had my double bypass May 12, 2015, so I know what it's like to go through what you've been through so far. I know I felt like I'd been hit by a train for the first 3-4 days; but then started feeling better a tiny bit each day.)
Just a couple of tips for what their worth:
1) try to be up and walking a little more each day
2) be sure to have a pillow handy to really hug onto when/if you cough
3) be sure to use the breathing device they give you religiously--it really helps and it's great to see your improvement
4) get as much rest as you can because EVERY system in your body has been impacted by the surgery/trauma to your heart, so it's a while 'til you're all in sync again
5) listen to your docs and medical people because they've been through this with patients many times and will give you the best information and advice
6) don't get discouraged--expect a few peaks and valleys in your recovery
7) don't get anxious--total recovery time from this surgery will be about 12 months--even though everyone is going to tell you less. All the systems in your body have to get back in sync, your sternum and chest area especially has to heal, and because of all the nerves that were cut, you'll get "phantom" feelings and tingling in your chest area for some time to come.
8) when you get home, keep moving around--take little walks inside your home a few times a day
9) it'll be a while til you can drive, so go look at your 'Vette every day-- it'll motivate you to get better and also bring a smile to your face!
10) watch your diet; eat a lot of protein to aid/speed the healing
Best wishes for a speedy and TOTAL recovery!
Hank

I had quadruple bypass about a year and a half ago. If I knew i would feel this much better I would have done it sooner. Don't rush your recovery and you will feel much better after a while. Prayers are with you, your family and your doctors.

I want to thank everyone who wished my mom well and kept her in their prayers. She pulled through her surgery to repair leaky heart valves last week and is slowly recovering nicely. I hope ghoastrider1's surgery went as well and is doing ok.

Thanks for the well wishes.
Had the surgery at the Indianapolis VA hosp. Great folks and very kind nurses. It didn't go as well as hoped. When I woke after surgery, they wanted me to wak. hey. no problem, then BANG..stroke. A little tiny blood clot went into an even smaller vein. That vein feeds part of the eyes thinymajiggy that controls perphisl vision. I now cannoy see anything to the left of
my nose. just a big blind spot. WVZ, usually they want a driver to wait at least 3 months..hopefull that's sll I have to do. S Fr as the vette goes, at this time I canot drive any car. I am hopping for improvement as I am sometimes seeing flickers of movement on my left side. otherwise, I am just sore as heck and tire very easy. Dang hard to type too, lol. Good time to put on the stuff I have bought for it, but ita either too heavy or I have to spend time bent over/. I really don't want to grt rid of the vette, spent my entire life lusting after one and its the first vette my wife ever not only rode in, but had a bit of fun squealing the tires 9 muvh to her surprise. Thank youi for your support and all the kindness shown my way and letting me be part of this incredible grop of lime minded folks, boys and gals. Aint going anywhere, but hard to siy at this table /desk for long. Oh, I hope your MOM came thru t\thisd trial with as lityle pain and loss as possible. tahnks, fred alvis. Keep the faith brutha! I've been down and out a few times myself and it's never any fun.
Meditation helped me a lot, as crazy as that may sound. Prayers may help too. Heck, just do anything and everything to help facilitate the body's own recuperative processes.
Good luck on your recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take you're time recovering and do as doctors say. I had the widow maker heart attack 5 years ago. I went to work 6 weeks later, because I was out of money. Doctors wanted me to stay out longer. I'm sure you are in for more.
Don't get discouraged. Best of luck to you.

Hey "Ghoastrider" - Hang tough there and keep searching for something "left of center" that's pleasant to "look at" and one day it'll happen!!
If you're back behind the wheel in 90 days that's tremendous BUT I WOULDN'T HURRY!!! Take it easy and pay attention!!
