Mounted seat cover install ???
95 std seats. I have a mounted set from Mid America. It looks like on the backs you just pull the 2 rods out and remove a coulpe of hog rings.
On the new foam I don't see the cloth channel the rods go in. Do I need to cut the foam at the bottom of the seat to find them? Or are they not in the aftermarket foam. The middle slot has a wire with 2 lopes at the end that the factory one doesn't have.
I still have to figure out the seat release latch. But it seems like a fairly easy job. I'm just not sure if the channel for the rods is in the new foam?

So I have found channels. They are actually part of the seat. Was looking from the back instead of front.
Any tips to make this easier appreciated. With my work schedule probably wont be able to work on these till Saturday.

I removed and replaced the same on my 89 just to clean behind them. The bottom is held in place by a spring type handle that snaps in place under the seat. The back is held in place by several notches which the metal rods in the seat back snap into. It takes some effort to collapse the seat back enough to get the rods in the notches but it can be done.
This is for an 89, not sure if the later models had the same set up. Good luck Ron.

How many hog rings did you use? Their were only 4 in the back. Their are 3 metal rods on the frame. Their were only to on the top and 2 on the bottom rods.
I can post a pic if you don't know what I'm talking about. Not the rods that go in the seat but the ones in the frame itself. Just seems like their should be some more.

Good luck on the install...

Use a right angle oring pick to hold for the hogrings. Start in the center and work your way out. Stay away from the edges. I used just under 200 hogrings on my 94 wasted about 25.

Not sure everybody knows what I'm talking about.
What I think are the factory covers their are only 5 hog rings. I am Looking at attaching the mounted cover to the frame. Their are 3 rails on the frame and their were only 3 hog rings on the top and 2 on the bottom.
I have 2 of the rods to install in the new seat. As pictured on the left and I found another one where the middle bracket is.
I guess my question is are 5 hog rings fine? Or should ad put a few on each of the rods on the frame?
FYI the picture is of the old one I'm replacing.

I am hard time getting these rods in the cover. Any tips or suggestion's?
I'm assuming its because the covers are already hog ringed to the foam and the rod is having a hard time passing some of them.
Not really wanting to remove them and put them back in. As that is kind of defeating the purpose of buying them mounted.

I had to make some cuts right at the top wire for them to fit right. Please tell me they did not put hogrings in the welt they go in. Make sure you put them in on the right side. Get a extra set of hands to hold the back closed as you zip. Make the cut for the latch after you rub fit and let it settle.

Right put a few on the right angle to hold it right. The top hooks into the frame. Screw the latch in first to hold it in place till you make the cut for it small as needed.

Sounds like their attempt to redesign how to mount the back. I would look at the bottoms and see what they did there maybe add a few rings.

Ron,
I did something similar to you with the 94-96 style seats. I had custom covers made to attach to the my modded OEM foam, I have base looking seats with Sport seat side bolsters. I planned on using the same rods with the OEM foam and new covers, but ended up using hogs rings for install and ditched the use of the those rods.
the rods worked, but would not stay in place and my seat looked wrinkled and loose..
I would suggest contacting Mid Am to see what they recommend for their covers.

The rods must be hooked to the top of the seat frame and hogringed on the bottom or they will be loose.

Back at it. Cut all the hog rings out that weren't like the factory seat. It's been a wile and don't remember %100 how this rod goes. I know it goes through the middle welt.
Do the bends face the front or rear of seat? I think they interlocked with the rods on the sides?

No the angles go to the back so they do not poke the cover and hogring them to the foam getting the strings to hold. They do not hook to the frame.
Damn now I am not sure if they hooked on the rods or not. Are they long enough to do this?

They were locked behind a pair of rods. Just don't remember if they were the ones in the cover or the seat foam. I do remember that rod was not hog ringed to frame.
I will try to look at the other one later. Hopefully I can figure out without tearing it apart right now.
